Girls @ Cake Shop in NYC (more by Tim Griffin)
Girls and Los Campesinos! are kicking off a tour together at Webster Hall in NYC on Tuesday (8/4, tickets), but first you can catch them at secret-ish show at Union Pool in Brooklyn TONIGHT (8/3). $10 tickets at the door only, 8pm doors, 8:30 show.
The show takes place before Reverend Vince Anderson gets there. Maybe Natalie Portman will stop by.

ditto on the super-strict 21+ policy. i would even go as far to call it super-duper-strict. you can't get in without drivers licence or a passport, even if you look 50.

wow.. disgustingly strict. i'm 27 years old and got IDed. I had my driver's license, it's a little old, but not expired, from when I was 22 and I got denied entry because of it. Had no photo ID on me other than a license of course, but I had stuff that said my name on it.. still denied!
lesson: get your license picture changed every six months if you want entry into union pool.

uh. i got there at 7 and they weren't checking ids. they've got a guy at the door to the bar now. in the future, just get to these places that also operate as bars early and you probably won't have much of a problem getting in.
