"I was suffering from panic attacks, I was always irritable and grumpy, and when I added up all the units of alcohol I'd been consuming, the total was truly horrifying," [Martin Gore] says. It was even scarier to realize "that I'd never been onstage sober in my life before. So this is the first tour I've ever done, alcohol-free, and I prepared for it like a professional boxer."A more sober Depeche Mode and a completely wasted Peter Bjorn & John (kidding) played two shows at Madison Square Garden in NYC this week. We already posted pictures from NIGHT ONE and from NIGHT TWO. Both were taken at the beginning of the show from very closeup. Here's another set of pictures from the second show, but from far away and for more of the show....Was there a final-straw moment when Gore knew he had a problem? He laughs.
"There were loads of those moments, but they never hit home," he says. "I mean, I had seizures one day on a boat in a Louisiana swamp, and fell forward, just by chance. And if I'd have fallen backward, I would've landed in a swamp full of alligators -- no joke. But even that didn't stop me." [San Francisco Examiner]

i missed them this tour, but saw them on the last tour at MSG and it was one of the most insane, devoted, awesome crowds i've ever been in

This was great. Completely wrong venue for PB+J, I felt bad for them. They tried really hard though and the crowd that was there I think dug it.
This was the first time I have ever seen DM. Pretty amazing. "I Feel You," was the show stopper for sure.

I enjoyed PB+J but the volume was so low for their set. It was hard to hear in the 400's...glad I saw em at Webster. Their set was only 25 minutes but the set featured some of their best songs..

In their heyday (circa Songs of Faith & Devotion) they made Led Zeppelin and the Stones look like amateurs in the drugs and decadence dept.
