Panda Bear"Due to circumstances beyond our control, Panda Bear will now be playing on the Friday rather than Saturday at ATP New York. If you have a Saturday day ticket and would now like to attend on the Friday please call Seetickets on 0871 2200260 (24hrs) to arrange being rebooked. If you booked a Daytripper Saturday ticket through us directly and would like to change please email us on feedback@atpfestival.com." [ATP] (thx mike)

That means Panda Bear is no longer playing on the same day as Animal Collective. Full, recently announced, ATP NY lineup, HERE. Video of a panda bear doing a handstand, below...

OK.. so do these uncontrollable circumstances entail that Panda Bear won't play with AC on Saturday?

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 1:17 AM

does a bear piss up a tree? yes, it does.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 1:57 AM

And the hits just keep on coming. Now there will be a perfect flow for Friday, Jesus Lizard to The Feelies to, um, Panda Bear. Someone please just buy my ticket already. Seriously, would anyone like to purchase a ticket? I will even sell below face value. Easily the most disappointing concert circumstance I have ever experienced.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 7:08 AM

You have to call the fooking UK to change your ticket?

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 7:19 AM

to 7:08 - is that a 3 day pass you're willing to sell, or just the saturday ticket? im interested! e-mail me please.

This is because Panda Bear is playing at Bowery Ballroom that weekend woohoo!

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 8:36 AM

Yeah, I heard some grumblings over the weekend that Noah's last show with AC would be at or soon after Lollapalooza. I don't know why yet, but I'm sure we'll hear something soon through a "tweet" or something very "techy."

Posted by Will | August 11, 2009 9:07 AM

it's true that friday is lacking coherence. i believe it will be dirty three, then the feelies, then panda bear, then iron and wine, then jesus lizard.

also, how in god's name can animal collective, with or without panda bear, go on stage after shellac and the melvins? that doesn't make any sense.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 9:26 AM

is panda really leaving ac? thats hard to imagine! if you told me he was going to be working on solo stuff and popping back in here and there like neko case in new pornos, i'd find that more believable.

This is so much better....

We have some great new additions today to the Ten Years Of ATP Festival which we are very excited to tell you about. First up are legendary ATP Recordings artists The Magic Band. As if that wasn't enough, also added to the bill are more ATP Favourites: Lightning Bolt, múm, OM, Edan, Porn and Tall Firs!

We can also confirm that Sunn O))) will be performing twice - one show of the GrimmRobe Demos - and another performing new work from the acclaimed Monoliths & Dimensions LP.

We hope to announce more bands this Friday including some past curators.

All 2 and 3 berth chalets are now sold out for this event - with 7 berths close to selling out and all other options going pretty fast too.

The line-up so far looks like this:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs / Modest Mouse / The Breeders / Explosions in the Sky / Battles / Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks / Dirty Three / Tortoise / Shellac / Melvins / Mudhoney / J Mascis and the Fog / The Magic Band / The For Carnation / Papa M / Sunn O))) performing The GrimmRobe Demos / Sunn O))) performing from Monoliths & Dimensions / múm / OM / Lightning Bolt / Edan / Tall Firs / Deerhoof / The Drones / Sleepy Sun / Bardo Pond / F*ck Buttons / APSE / Alexander Tucker and Decomposed Orchestra / Porn

Panda Bear > Animal Collective

Noah should drop the baggage and set out on his own. Avey's songs are annoying, and the Geologist... what the fuck does the Geologist do anyways besides look like a tool with that little camping head light thing.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 10:01 AM

The Smoking Vegan. You guys have no idea what you're talking about.

Posted by jan janson | August 11, 2009 10:33 AM

Panda will be there, just hiding behind the speakers...

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 10:51 AM

All the post says is Panda Bear's solo set is happening on Friday instead of Saturday, and that Animal Collective (Panda included) still plays Saturday. There is nothing else.

Posted by brooklynvegan | August 11, 2009 10:57 AM

i want/need a panda tour.
and for it to come to providence.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 11:03 AM

A new face in hell!

Posted by Regular reader | August 11, 2009 11:18 AM

still there seems something missing here. if panda is playing with ac on saturday, why would scheduling dictate that panda move to friday? i've never seen panda bear solo, so is there another essential ingredient that might require the scheduling change?
and i really fail to see how the 10th anniversary show is superior. many acts are identical, and we saw lightning bolt, tortoise, and bardo pond last year.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 11:45 AM

"All the post says is ... that Animal Collective (Panda included) still plays Saturday."

Where does it say Panda is included? Source?

Seems like the writing is on the wall, the split already happended and he doesn't even want to appear on the same day.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 11:47 AM

A source inside the band says Panda Bear is out, Deakin is in.

Posted by Regular reader | August 11, 2009 11:57 AM

A lot of reviews I've been reading lately have been saying how disinterested Collective has been looking on stage lately, play and that's the show. I think they hit the wall after MPP, and if Panda is leaving, it's because he probably realizes they've taken the band as far as they can with their sound.

Posted by Linz | August 11, 2009 11:59 AM

"Where does it say Panda is included? Source? "

well, all I'm saying is it doesn't say he's not included. Rumors until anything official is announced...

Posted by brooklynvegan | August 11, 2009 12:15 PM

Panda Bear isn't leaving Animal Collective.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 12:28 PM

If PB was leaving AC, he'd probably just not play the festival altogether nor would they.

Posted by Smart Guy | August 11, 2009 12:33 PM

Also, for the record, Panda Bear is not playing Bowery Ballroom

Posted by brooklynvegan | August 11, 2009 12:37 PM

...But is he playing at ATP WITH Animal Collective on Saturday?

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 12:42 PM

please please please be because of a panda tour

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 12:47 PM

Anal C*nt > Animal Collective.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 12:57 PM

:(

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 12:58 PM

b veg that smile made my day.
when this tour is announced i will be the most happy. new panda material is an epic. win.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 1:02 PM

Um y'all seem to be forgetting the two Prospect Park shows and the two Uk shows between lolla and atp.

Bit of sensationalism no?

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 1:19 PM

Rumor rumor rumor rumor?! Let's start a rumor rumor rumor rumor!!

PANDA BEAR IS LEAVING ANIMAL COLLECTIVE U HERD IT HERE FIRST

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 1:20 PM

"all I'm saying is it doesn't say he's not included."

They don't need to say he is not included. ATP booked Animal Collective. AC can show up with all new members, but as long as they have the legal rights to the name, there will be no problem for them or ATP.

Besides, even if they did know he is not included, it would be bad marketing to admit it.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 1:25 PM

The explanation is probably as simple as, "We couldn't fit all the bands in on Saturday so we decided to spread out the Animal Collective over two days instead of one" or something. You people are incredible.

Posted by Monta | August 11, 2009 1:26 PM

"i heard it last week:"

If you believed that story, I have a bridge I want to sell you...

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 1:29 PM

@ 1.23....that is clearly a troll, everyone on DIS agreed with that.

@1.25 once again if the blood was so bad that he wouldnt even appear the same day as his 'old band' at atp, then why have they not announced this 'spilt' just a few short days before two pretty major brooklyn shows and a few weeks before two uk shows. Thats just sorta dumb.

Trolls will be trolls.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 1:29 PM

Guys, it's over. We're over. The dream, the vision, the flourescent tribal design clothes sold at your local Urban Outfitters -- it's all over. Find something new to listen to.

Posted by The guys in Animal Collective | August 11, 2009 1:36 PM

we already did, good bye.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 2:03 PM

We are happy to announce that Animal Collective will be reuniting at the Saturday date of All Tomorrow's Parties NYC this September. It will be the band's first show together in an entire day. Tickets are available now, and will cost 3 times as much as they regularly would for an AC show, since it's now a reunion show. Hope to see you bear!

- Panda Bear & the Collective

Posted by Panda Bear | August 11, 2009 2:36 PM

@236 I salute you

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 3:17 PM

It's probably just because Noah doesn't want to play two shows in one day. Doye.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 3:44 PM

i hope pb leaves ac. if this is true, this is the best move pb could ever have made. i am so thrilled. it's like nico losing the velvet underground. like damon albarn losing blur! awesome!

go pb!

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 4:02 PM

fucking retards. did panda "leave" when he released person pitch? no. its a collective, they come and go as they please.

like someone said before, he probably doesnt wanna do two sets in one day. plus with atlas sound also playing saturday hed be doing walkabout with bradford. seems itd be a bit much if you ask me.

Posted by duh | August 11, 2009 4:06 PM

twice in one day is too much cox

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 4:22 PM

Anyone who thinks Noah would walk away from AC right now is not thinking. They're at the height of their success and probably getting so much fresh flourescent colored poonanny out there on the road. Noah kind of is the heart of Animal Collective too.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 4:22 PM

Anyone who thinks Noah would be interested in "success" and "getting so much fresh flourescent colored poonanny out there on the road" hasn't listened to "My Girls."

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 4:34 PM

"but anyone can say they're 'brooklynvegan'"

Really? Let me give it a shot...

Posted by brooklynvegan | August 11, 2009 4:51 PM

Jesus, it's like the Land of Waldos in here

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 4:57 PM

These will be the last Animal Collective shows ever. In the future it will be all solo projects. The band has always been fluid in nature, so this will not be a dramatic change, really. But Animal Collective as we know it now (MPP-era) will be over after ATP. Panda Bear will not come to the US anymore, either.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 5:41 PM

AC RIP

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 5:50 PM

@ 4:34pm

Anyone who thinks Noah and AC weren't aiming for success after listening to "My Girls" (or MPP for that matter) hasn't looked at the facts that the song (and album) put them in regular rotation on major alternative, indie and college radio stations, scored them a TOP 10 ALBUM ON THE BILLBOARD CHARTS, and will probably be ranked as the top song on many critic polls at year's end. I don't care what the lyrics say, "My Girls" is a straight up pop song. Hell, it's the indie version of Fergie's "Glamorous" when you take the context of the lyrics into account.

Posted by Anonymous | August 11, 2009 8:22 PM

id fuck fergie
