"after seeing this video I lost any respect I had for Perry Farrell. Why is he even bothering with music anymore? He and his wife should stick with porn exclusively". - Anonymous | August 8, 2009 1:32 AM

"Perry's" stage @ Lollapalooza - August 8, 2009 (by kazahel)
Perrys

Julian Plenti FTW....

Perry Farrell - "I Like 'Em Big" (

"Farrells new video for his song I Like Em Big. Debuting in tandem with Lollapalooza 2009s opening day, the piece features more champagne and lingerie than you can shake a satin scarf at. Directed by Andrew Bennett, whose work includes videos for Deftones and many others, it captures a side of Perry and his wife Etty that will undoubtedly surprise viewers, reinforcing Farrells knack for pushing boundaries and having fun while doing so.

As I long time Jane's fan, and still excited for future Jane's, this video is just plain embarrassing perry.

I think sometimes people forget that Perry Farrell has always had the capacity to be like this. Janes Addiction was great because it was such a motley crew, but on his own, Perry usually tends toward new agey/pornish/cali.

Also, he keeps looking more and more like Puck.

Holy shit I just found my summer jam! Thanks Perry. I can't wait 'til the brothers at the house hear this one. It'll be on repeat at the next par-tay!

Posted by Boo-ya! | August 8, 2009 5:10 PM

Who's the she-male w/ Perry in the video?

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2009 5:16 PM

i think they just find each other so spectacular that they are trying to share it with the rest. It's a little cheap but overall I got the feeling they reallly are mesmerized with each other

the world could implode and they wouldn't give a shit

Andrew should of took the shots in the bathroom as well, mix those images up! Too bad you didn't shoot at an assortment of different Motels.

he made two good records with janes addiction, and that's pretty much it. looking back, even those 2 records suffer from the underlying theme of perry's entire career...his ego maniacal self obsession.

this track is pure garbage. file this next to the latest black eyed peas single, and/or tommy lee's attempt at rap. remember how well that went off?

btw, if this is yr summer party jam, you should probably just do the world a favor and (a) kill yrself or (b) sign a vow to never procreate...but then again, you've probably already spray-tanned yr junk into sterility by now anyways...

happy saturday everyone!

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2009 5:53 PM

Yeah...I respect many things Perry has done in the past (including coming up with the original touring Lollapalooza concept back in the early 90s) and yes his cuurent squeeze is hot...but that video is simply ridiculous! An absolute low in his career. Please make it stop!

It's shit.

Posted by Joey | August 8, 2009 6:34 PM

You're shit! It's awesome. Awesome Perry! Luv it!

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2009 6:38 PM

that perry track might just be the worst song i've ever heard.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2009 7:50 PM

I loved janes addiction growing up, but that video makes me feel really sad..

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2009 8:27 PM

Yeah, after seeing Satellite Party debut @ SXSW> 07, and Etty was on stage I thought, its over.

And after NIN this last tour, I LEFT, did not stay for ONE Janes song. I. hate to be mean, but in real life I would NEVER want to hang with Perry or Navarro. Cause, they like em big, EW.

Posted by TXn | August 8, 2009 9:57 PM

I could care less about PF one way or another. That being said, I think y'all are jealous bc that isn't your life. Who wouldn't want to be drinking Moet Rose in a limo w. their hot-ass, pneumatic wife? Yeah, it's cheesy, but it looks like a fuckload of fun. I love this video bc it is unapologetically American dream rockstar. What should PF be doing? Helping Tibet? Reading War and Peace? Making music w. some indie flavor of the month? Hell no! He's living it up on his Jane's money.

Posted by Claire | August 8, 2009 11:01 PM

@Claire11:01 - I've got zero problem with Perry living it up...but can he just please keep us out of it if this video is the result.

Posted by blackhat | August 8, 2009 11:07 PM

The Farrell video is brilliant. Not only on its own merits, but also as a provocation directed at sex-fearing indie rock children.

Posted by pdf | August 8, 2009 11:15 PM

why couldn't emily haines get as scantily clad??

Posted by adam | August 9, 2009 12:11 AM

Where does all this begrudging respect come from? If the first two Jane's Addiction records came out now, everyone on this site would take a giant shit on them. With good reason.

Posted by JAE | August 9, 2009 12:38 AM

Janes Addiction=80's cock rock from the sunset strip that for some reason was labeled "alternative".

I want to puke everytime I see the guitar on Nevaro's tattooed chest, playing it like he is playing with himself. The guitar-as-penis thing is
so cheesy. But not as cheesy as this video.

Yeah I'm an 80's boy.And JA did not change shit.It was REM who got the alternative rock ball rolling at the start of the 1990's.The success of "Loosing My Religion" for example got radio stations to play other songs like that. And bands like Nirvana a year later.

JA's real influence on a style of music was Nu Metal.Freddy Durst was being milked JA when he was a baby.So was every other nu metal knuckle head.

20 top ranked NYC artists? who's doing the ranking?

btw- this new vid does suck. Perry's all right but if I was him id divorce that plastic bimbo and marry Alice Practice in a second.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 2:30 AM

what a sad end to a career.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 3:17 AM

if it makes you feel any better, hard summer failed miserably in LA tonite

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 4:06 AM

Does anyone care to explain the Julian Plenti video to me?

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 4:25 AM

anyway, i'll be rocking out later today to neko case>dan auerbach>LOU FUCKING REED. i'll be leaving before all the bullshit to watch the yanks sweep, and then heading over to the 'no deachunter show' (no age, dan deacon, and deerhunter.) peace out.

Posted by quilty | August 9, 2009 4:50 AM

he is certainly 'pushing' the boundaries.

Posted by imkoreansowhat | August 9, 2009 5:07 AM

@JAE12:38 & Anon1:16 - We can all agree on one thing...Perry's new song and video totally sucks! But I must respectfully disagree about downplaying the impact of Jane's Addiction on modern rock. Jane's married a voodoo, gothy mysticism to "alternative rock" that was a total breath of fresh air back then. Remember...Perry got his start in the experimental goth band Psi Com, so Jane's esthetic was no accident. To try and judge how their albums would be received if released now is kinda unfair. Many bands who are generally revered and respected couldn't pass that test because taste and musical sensibilities change with the times. Regardless, I think songs like "Ocean Size" and "Jane Says" stand the test of time pretty well. And again...Perry helped to bring the whole big alternative music/art Festival idea from the UK & Europe over to America before just about anyone else.

Posted by blackhat | August 9, 2009 8:09 AM

she puts it in perry's butt. you know she does.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 9:57 AM

his next record is with MC Pee Pants from aqua teen. some kinda fvcked up tranny record. 2010!

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 10:20 AM

the song is bad!!! video too! where's jane's???

Posted by Dvader17 | August 9, 2009 10:50 AM

Is he singing about her dick?

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 11:02 AM

true was and is a true pioneer. and im totally jealous of that guy who bragging about the no age deacon deerhunter thing, if i was in chi that would be my plan too.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 11:05 AM

Julian Plenti doesn't really sound any different from Interpol. Still liked it tho'.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 11:11 AM

Y'know...you catch Paul Banks at the wrong angle and he resembles Justin Timberlake a bit.

Posted by blackhat | August 9, 2009 11:26 AM

this shit sucks

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 12:17 PM

"I like em' big" has got to be the worst shit EVER. Perry Farrel is a disgusting piece of shit. Way cooler than Dave Navarro though...

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 12:57 PM

I love my girlfriend way more than Perry loves his wife. I'm working on a new song about her.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 1:00 PM

this is why i could care less about lolapalosers.

Posted by kenyon | August 9, 2009 1:14 PM

oh god. enough.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 2:23 PM

Perry looks better in the video then his wife (who looks like a bleached stripper).

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 3:11 PM

that dude from Interpool sure has a hot girlfriend!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 6:35 PM

This is the same guy who wrote "Summertime Rolls"?? What a loser. I still like Jane's songs. Always will. But this is disgraceful.

Posted by anonymous | August 9, 2009 7:30 PM

Fuck you, Anonymous 12:57!

Posted by Dave Navarro | August 9, 2009 7:55 PM

god what a douchebag.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 8:29 PM

if perry wants to be sexy & push some boundaries then do it, this video & song are boring & cliche'. old madonna is more provocative than this crap.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2009 1:40 AM

These comments seal the deal: Perry Farrell is smarter than you.

Posted by greg | August 10, 2009 9:27 AM

^^
That comment seals the deal: you're the dumbest of the lot.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2009 9:35 AM

i like the paul banks video

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2009 12:35 PM

What a sale-out Perry is and with that sluttu wife of his. Ugh!

I am an old Jane's Addiction fan and this makes me sick.

What a lame ass video. I felt embarassed!

Posted by Raven | August 10, 2009 6:29 PM

P.S. I wonder how many STD's they have amongst them?

Posted by Raven | August 10, 2009 6:31 PM

Perry is the douchebag of the century. His on-stage banter at Lolla was unbearable. This video is a perfect representation of where he's at today = paper thin, ultra-surface narcissism.

That said I wasn't mad when he finally shut the fuck up and played "Classic Girl" + "Summertime Rolls".
