Juan BacLean @ BEMF 8/8 (Nicky Digital)
Juan MacLean

"A collaboration between Famous Friends (a promotion company) and Noise Problem (a booking agency), the second installment of BEMF--the first festival took place last summer at The Yard--seemed to be banking its success on strength in numbers. With admission at $25, 38 DJs and bands were packed onto a 12-hour bill of "emerging" artists, with each act charged with the task of taking control of the party for 30 minutes at a clip. Overstuffed bills didn't work in the '90s, and it didn't help BEMF's cause on Saturday. There was little musical fluidity (or any real connection to Brooklyn, aside from some on the lineup calling the borough home), and none of the DJs had the time to stretch out and take the crowd on a proverbial journey. While aspiring live acts need opportunities to hone their craft, some of the early live performances looked like amateur hour." [Big Shot Mag]
The Juan MacLean was one of the headlining acts at the second annual Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival that happened at the Old American Can Factory on Saturday, August 8th. Check out a video of their performance below.

The Juan Maclean are in Europe for the rest of August. On Friday, December 18th, the group will play another Brooklyn show at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Does that say "Juan BacLean @ BEMF 8/8"? Is that a typo or am I missing something?

That's a lot of flat singing... Still, Nancy Whang >> Peggy Wang.

that review was spot on....

BEMF= bands with little to no electronics

the music was bland with exception of a few acts.

There is a breeze, refreshing feeling, listening to music, take a walk on the path, wearing Bose On Headphones, feel the music of beauty.
There is no music, life is worthless.--Nietzsche
