The Pretenders @ the Stone Pony Summerstage (relaxing)
The Pretenders

"Fans going to the two New York metropolitan area Pretenders concerts -- August 9 at the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, NJ [last night], and August 10 at the Central Park SummerStage in New York, NY [tonight] -- might want to [save their appetites] before they enter the venues.

Concert promoter Live Nation is supporting Chrissie Hynde's vegetarian initiatives by removing all meat products from the venues, as well as providing a special vegetarian BBQ for radio contest winners at the Central Park show. Hynde is a longtime and well-known vegetarian and PETA activist." [TicketNews]

Cat Power and Juliette Lewis are also on the bill.

How many people actually own (or would admit it) a Juliette Lewis CD? File under Kevn Bacon, Billy Bob Thorton and Kevin Costner as folks who need to keep their day jobs.

juliette lewis is a legit artist. in the past five years. she's scaled back her "day job" and devoted full time to hewning her craft as a songwriter, singer and, yes, musician. her efforts have garnered her a significant internet-based following as well as the admiration of her peers in the music industry...

wait--are we talking about JULIETTE lewis?

sorry, i thought we were talking about jenny lewis...

Honestly Live Nation must be rueing the day they put this tour together. They are giving away tickets at every venue (word is they are lucky if they are selling 25% of the tickets in each venue) and they have to deal with Chrissie's veggie demands. Kudos to Chrissie for getting it as she is passionate about her beliefs.

By the way, I hate Live Nation and they are getting killed this summer. Fuck them and their venues.

Sadly, they ain't giving these away cheap in Boston.

Chrissy looked and sounded great for her age. 57 and fit as a fiddle.

alice cooper is looking young these days!

We went to the show last night in DC. We walked out after 8 songs. No lights were on Chrissy. It was completely dark. She acted as though she was on something, wandering around the stage. She rarely even looked at the audience. She had her back turned of looked sideways. We were in Row G in the middle. It was the single worst concert that I have ever seen. We should get our money back.

Cat Power was great. Very bluesy. I hadn't heard of them but they were great.
