It's your last chance to catch Bang on a Can's Asphalt Orchestra, when they play Lincoln Center's Broadway Plaza tonight.
Akron/Family play a free in-store at NYC record shop Other Music.
The Antifolk Festival at Sidewalk Cafe continues with the Monday Night Open Stage and host Ben Krieger.
Two of this week's metal highlights happen tonight: Zoroaster, Gates of Slumber and Serpentcult play the Studio at Webster Hall, while Doomriders, Acid Tiger, Mouteater and I Hate Our Freedom perform at Union Pool.
The Pretenders, Cat Power and Juliette & The Licks play NJ's Stone Pony Summerstage. They'll play NYC's Central Park Summerstage for on Monday (not free).

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 2:00 PM
yo i'd hit up A/F but i'm at the Juggalos Gathering; which i'm attending purely for irony. just woke up after a long night of ICP and Coolio, heckling Pauly Shore and watching people wrestling on tacks. don't want to be a neden hole so now i'm going to Violent J's BBQ (the third my nerd).
Posted by Sugar Slam | August 9, 2009 2:22 PM
what time do you think you have to show at Other music to make it inside for A/F? 6 would be safe?
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 2:59 PM
chances of t-storms after 5 pm so prob the sooner they go on the better...
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 3:03 PM

Simian Mobile Garbage. Hey, that's going to be an act that will really be engaging to watch perform. Noting like watching people spin records and push buttons.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 4:40 PM
dan is throwing a fit over the sound, stopped the show after 1st song and they are sound checking.
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 4:46 PM
"lets pretend the first ten minutes never happened" lmao...
now it sounds much better though...
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 4:47 PM
hum, still distorted, but looks like the best show of the weekend for sure.
"Jesus Fucking Christ. Ok lets just do it"
Dan after further sound issues.
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 4:52 PM
oh no its that "put your hands on the head of the stranger" part.
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 4:57 PM
amazing picture, must be ten thousand people clapping in unison. only bummer is the super tough security dudes in numbers are making sure there is no pit invasion, though it looks like people want to get closer to dan
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 5:01 PM
Dan jumped in the crowd and he is trying to do the snake with 20 thousand people. never gonna work, the area is fucking packed.
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 5:06 PM
the snake gauntlet is working, somewhat. must be 100 feet long, at least.

This kitteh video is dull. Bring back Maru!
Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2009 6:57 PM
so whatever dorks were DJ-ing in between sets today at the Pool Party were embarrassing. if their matching Dan Deacon glasses weren't enough, one of them was creeping around Matt Friedberger, clearly annoying him, so he could get to sidestage, and then proceeded to stare into his iPhone on fucking stage while the Furnaces rocked 3 feet from him.
classless douchebags. well done.

Akron/Family - one hour ten minute set at Other Music, full electric set w/ core 3 members, plus acapella encore. I think everyone got in. Pretty awesome band, and nice people, I am definitely adding them to my must see list.

Akron/Family played a really fantastic cover of "I Know You Rider" possibly a tribute to Jerry Garcia? Such a great little show.
