the Beets are so mediocre, maybe in Columbus or Portland a Beets show would be an exciting time, but not in the most culturally dynamic city in the world. stop egging them on!

I agree. The Beets SUCK!!!!! Please stop reminding us that some bands only get shows and coverage because they know the right people in the right scenes.

"Please stop reminding us that some bands only get shows and coverage because they know the right people in the right scenes."

"most culturally dynamic city in the world"
oh, yes-- we live in a CULTURALLY DYNAMIC place and the rest of the world can suck it.
and beets are good.

because i like to balance out my positivity will equal parts negativity....i would just like to state that the animal collective are quite possibly (and i'm not over exaggerating) the most horrifically terrible band making the shittiest, fucking unbearable to listen to music in the history of mankind. and even worse are the people who follow animal collective's disgusting sound and think that it's some epic shit. you people are fucking brain dead, i sincerely hope that you are deaf, dumb, and blind cause it would be the only plausible excuse for your actions. i'm usually able to listen to music that i don't particularly like and still be able to understand why certain types of human beings would be into it, but they transcend even this reasoning. i have tried and i can't think of music that i've heard that it worse than what they play.

the beets are the most intense of vegetables. radishes admittedly are more feverish butthe fire of radishes is a cold fire, the fire of discontent not of passion. tomatoes are lusty enough, yet there runs through tomatoes an undercurrent of frivolity. beets are deadly serious.

@Anon6:51 - In no particular order...the Cake Shop/Bruar Falls and DBA folks, Todd P., Woodsist, Crystal Stilts, Vivian Girls, German Measles, etc.
Listen...I'm not trying to be a hater and I respect the people I list above, plus attend their shows and events on a regular basis. But I'm pretty sure if The Beets weren't in with them, we certainly wouldn't be reading about that band regularly on BV. They simply aren't that good.

Who are we rooting for in the next go-round of "Dancing with the Stars"? Donny Osmond? Macy Gray? The pro snowboarder bro?

soo....everyone in brooklyn, basically? who goes to shows around town and DOESN'T know all those people?
this slagging off of the beets isn't really fair or based on anything. i mean, you can dislike them if you don't like they're music, that's fine, but hating on a band because of some perceived advantage they have over others by being friends with whomever is actively involved with producing diy in this city when zillions of other bands and individuals are also friends with those aforementioned people is just ridiculous. christ, even i know all of those people personally and you don't see my face on BV.
think about it.

i'd like to apologize (kinda) to any ac fans that may have taken offense to my comment at 7:30. the fact that i'm not into a band doesn't give me the right to bash their music and fans. believe i was sober when that was written.

I would like to apologize for all the redundant meh comments and all the other silliness. It won't happen anymore. just trying to be funny but now I realize it was not funny at all.
I would also like to apologize to Animal Collective for saying I don't like their music anymore, and how annoying Panda Bear is and how much better they were 8 years ago, and to The Hold Steady for saying how much they suck and to Craig Finn saying he is a horrible front man. I now realize it was stupid petty stuff to say, and the problem lies in my possibly lacking in good taste and good manners. I am sure they are all good people and deserve respect.

@Anon12:39 - I admit...an intelligent response. OK...I totally dislike The Beets because I don't like their music.
p.s. You should start a band.
