DOWNLOAD: The Clientele - I Wonder Who We Are (MP3)

The Clientele

The Clientele only played two North American shows in 2009 -- one at Music Hall of Williamsburg and one at XX Merge, both in July. The band's latest album of lovely, autumnal dream pop, Bonfires on the Heath, is out October 6. You can download the album's first single, "I Wonder Who We Are," at the top of this post and stream the whole thing at Merge Records' website.

New Yorkers will get one more chance this year to hear these songs live when Clientele songwriter/frontman Alasdair MacLean plays a solo show at Joe's Pub on October 29. MacLean is an entertaining performer, one who has the ability to sing while finger-picking complex guitar parts, and his between-song banter consistently had the MHoW audience cracking up in July. Hopefully, The Clientele will be back for a real tour of the U.S. in 2010.

The full band are also playing a couple shows in London in November and December, and those dates, and a video, are below...

The Clientele - 2009 Tour Dates
Oct 29 Joe's Pub New York City, New York
Nov 19 The Luminaire London, London and South East
Dec 6 The Lexington London, London and South East

So looking forward to checking out the album stream. I am loving the tracks I've heard thus far.

The new album is pretty good. It definitely compliments the season right now and gets you in the right mood when it gets cold and brisk out to just sit some place quiet and warm. I listened to it the other night, got a few songs in and shimmied off my Levi's 511 skinny fit jeans, American Apparel briefs and there I saw my hard, engorged cock with its smooth, plumpened testicles being pumped up and down as I continued to let the songs grow on me as I warmed my chest with my hot cum release cleaning up after it cooled with my cum rag. Its probably their 2nd or 3rd best album depending on what mood you like your Clientele in and perhaps I'll check out this solo show, too.

to the cum & meh guys.....somebody at sometime in your lives told you guys you were funny.. maybe it was your parents trying to encourage you but whatever or whoever it was...you should know that you are not funny , never have been, never will just inherently unfunny like a Kevin Smith movie or Robert Wuhl....

there is a difference between the meh people or the guy from 2nd post. I wish BV would ban people like the above post.

3:05- the cum and meh guys are two different animals entirely. The former fuses music criticism and masturbation anecdotes into one ridiculous and unapologetic whole; it requires skill to pull off correctly, and is actually pretty entertaining, since you often don't realize it's the cum rag guy until you're halfway through his post. The meh guy, however, is a pest. He's not interested in your satisfaction at all. Like a selfish lover, he shuns intercourse, satisfied only with ejaculating small globs of hot salty cock syrup all over your American Apparel hoodie, and later refusing to soak it up with his cum rag. But the cum rag guy has truly crafted some of the best BV comments I've read in ages.

I am 3:12.
3:19 must be 1:08. BV please ban him. Thanks!

I personally have laughed at many of the cum rag guys comments. dont ban him, freedom of speech!

3:38- 3:19 is not 1:08. I only wrote one of them.

Cheers,
3:19

p.s. They're pretty fun...try it!

I would never think the Clientele has such creeps for fans. I think I will stay away from seeing them live again.

Posted by Anonymous | September 25, 2009 4:19 PM

Hi, I'm 1:08 and the actual original cum rag author from previous original cum rag posts and 3:19pm has it right. 3:19, if you're the same person who praised my comments before by saying they could easily double as Pitchfork reviews, you got it totally right again. Its not trying to be vile, disgusting, perverted or a nuisance, but its really funny how over passionate some people on comment boards can get and my posts are an awkward, cringeworthy parody of that.

I don't even fully understand it myself but when I think of the hip kids and yupsters following trend, the image I gather is of people self praising themselves and so pleased with their coolness... hence masturbation analogies.

Sorry if my posts offend people, its all in one good, gloppy burst of fun. Please don't ban me!

This isn't a 'message board'. It's a comments section of a blog. BIG difference.

Posted by Anonymous | September 25, 2009 4:35 PM

4:28- 3:19 here. I did comment once about how similar they sound in tone to a Pitchfork review. I think you're spot on re: pretentious and 'masturbatory' BV comments. These comments are hilarious to me. As message board satire goes, you've produced some of the finest. It's a shame more folks don't get it yet. In the words of Gordon Sumner, I'll be watching you.

So about this show...... Anyone know if he just plays Clientele songs or is a mixed bag?

Posted by Anonymous | September 25, 2009 4:47 PM

Probably mostly Clientele tracks since they got to promote the new album but who knows.

Jesus mary and f'n joseph - some of us might be kinda interested in how the new record is? Does it compare to the past ones, etc? I really like the cover art and am stoked to hear it.

Hopefully the band will do some stateside touring within the next 6 months. I also enjoy their live show.

Me thinks I'll hold off until they tour with the full band. I like them but not enough to sit through a bare bones solo show.
