David Cross @ ATP NY on Friday (more by Ryan Muir)
David Cross

Hi, I'm hated comedian David Cross. I've been asked to go to London to perform a three week run of my offensive stand-up routines at the Soho Theater.

And since it's London and those folks have no idea who I am or what my act is like, I thought that rather than try to whip up a brand new tight hour and a half, that I would instead just brush off some old chestnuts and be on my way. But I dont' remember half of the shit I used to do. Good thing I recorded cd's!

Won't you come watch me "get ready" for London with some Klassic Komedy Bitz? It's priced accordingly and there will be beer.

Thanks,
david

The price is $5.00 and it's happening at the UCB Theatre in NYC tonight (9/15 @ 11pm). "ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE SOLD OUT", but "There will be a stand-by line for this show" which means if you really want to get in, you have a decent chance (true for all UCB shows, especially the 'sold out' free ones).

David performed at ATP NY this past Friday. One weekend earlier he and some friends were at the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle. That show can be watched in the video below...

he's pretty funny in that video

I agree with anonymous (one of them). I saw David Cross open for Guided By Voices and he was terrible.

he is so not funny. douche!

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 1:55 PM

Yeah pretty awful live. It was a very painful experience watching him open for YLT at Maxwell's

That dude is just not funny, period. He might be witty and fun to hang out with (I don't know), but his show sucks.

he was terrible at ATP.

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 2:40 PM

yeah, alvin and the chipmunks.

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 2:43 PM

'yeah, alvin and the chipmunks.'

Oh, give me a bread. That movie was a fucking paycheck. How can you fault someone for wanting to get paid? Like, you wouldn't do it?

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 2:49 PM

whatever... he was still pretty genius as Tobias Funke

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 2:51 PM

He's funny when he blows himself in movies.

Mr. Show was funny.

Posted by dave | September 15, 2009 2:51 PM

He told that same S&M bit last year at bumbershoot.

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 3:06 PM

NO. You give me a bread!

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 3:10 PM

Mr. Show is one of the greatest shows ever, as well

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 3:14 PM

"whatever... he was still pretty genius as Tobias Funke"

That is 'Dr.' Tobias Funke to you!

David Cross = not funny. Not even remotely funny. Though he's funnier than Mitch Hedberg and Dane Cook combined.

Posted by Hank | September 15, 2009 3:42 PM

how early do you usually have to get there for stand-by at UCB?

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 3:55 PM

"Hi, I'm hated comedian David Cross."

I love that

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 4:04 PM

he needs to get a different job.

Posted by Anonymous | September 15, 2009 4:54 PM

I have always liked David Cross. He might not be the funniest, but he is pretty cool.

I wish David Cross would write some new fucking jokes already.

I want to hear some new material from him, I remember him saying he lost confidence at one point in an interview, which totally sucks because when hes on form hes the best.

Looking forward to his new TV show coming, I know he can make some amazing stuff. This was pretty funny and his book is great.

Comedy is best served funny.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2009 12:59 PM

Is he still doing that "I hate my puppy..." act he's being doing at practically every NYC show since Mr. Show kicked the bucket?

He's an asshole.

at atp he talked a lot about how he has gotten old, and he feels slow and out of it, especially with all the drugs he has done. he talked about how he thinks his mother is getting senile and so is he. it was depressing. people wanted to laugh, but he was just so sad.
