Nice one 4:11.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:12 PM

I tried to buy a ticket for the pianos show & it says its sold out.... Great move 4:11pm

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:14 PM

If I would've known they were playing on a Friday, I would've bought Friday tickets.

Posted by Kurt C. | September 18, 2009 4:14 PM

that would have worked better if you had tried it around 10:05 when people were frantic.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:15 PM

Interesting way of dealing with scalpers. Put the least wanted show on sale first, then during the day add in the more popular days little by little (Wednesday/Thursday/Friday). In the end all of the scalpers get stuck with the least wanted tickets out of all of the shows.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:16 PM

wow- these guys must not be busy if they're able to add 4 shows in a row at the drop of a dime

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:17 PM

Pavement fall residency at Central Park, September - November, 2010.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:17 PM

wow- these guys must not be busy if they're able to add 4 shows in a row at the drop of a dime

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:17 PM

imma let you finish

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:17 PM

scalpers and the die hard fans

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:18 PM

can't wait until the shows actually happen and we all get to argue about which night was "the best"

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:19 PM

BV said he heard there would be four shows. Why is everyone so surprised.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:19 PM

>> scalpers and the die hard fans

Yeah true, oh well live and learn. I'm hoping for an amazing opening act on Tuesday, either that or it rains like crazy on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:20 PM

Lemmings, all of you.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:22 PM

keep fucking that chicken, Pavement.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:23 PM

Yeah, this is a pointless fail, all this ticket scrambling. Pavement will probably headline Coachella and they may headline and curate ATP. That means they'll be playing a 2800-capacity super unique indoor room with perfect sound as the end to one of the greatest weekends of your life. And yet you're ponying up $50/head to see them play to the rest of New York outdoors on a Tuesday night. Fucking retarded.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:25 PM

sweet got 2 !

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:25 PM

Just got 2 orchestra off craigslist for 2nd night!

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:26 PM

Thinking that seeing them at Coachella is better than seeing them on any given day at summerstage is fucking retarded.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:31 PM

Just got an e-mail from Spiral...

1st night is Slanted and early singles with Gary Young

2nd night is CR CR with all B-sides and special guests

3rd night is Brighten The Corners and Wowee back-to-back

4th night is Terror Twilight with members of Radiohead and 2nd set is all covers with REM + others guesting

Silver Jews opening all shows with Malkmus on select songs

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:32 PM

4:32 = creative

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:34 PM

@4:32

That would be epic.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:35 PM

Yaaaaaaaawn. Well at least they have their mortgages covered from now until next September.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:36 PM

I am a little confused. Isn't next Friday 9/25, not 9/24? Also, Phoenix and Passion Pit are doing a show at the same venue next Friday, I think. Just sayin

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:36 PM

4:32 did you masturbate while writing out your big nerd boner?

Funny if they really did that I would want to see night 3 most of all. I'm wowee zowee kinda guy.

Posted by noamjamski | September 18, 2009 4:36 PM

Everyone who bought these tickets now are pathetic losers.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:36 PM

I know that's a joke 4:32... but it would be cool if they devoted different nights to different albums/eras.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:37 PM

"m a little confused. Isn't next Friday 9/25, not 9/24? "

fixed. :-)

(first time I typed "2010 Tour Dates" I think)

Posted by brooklynvegan | September 18, 2009 4:40 PM

if 4:32's fantasy were true, i would regret not having a ticket to night 3.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:41 PM

Why on earth would you want to see them at a festival rather than their own show? Only people who have fun at festivals are drugged out, the sound is bad, crowded, limited time, barely can see them, everyone smells and you're stuck there.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:41 PM

Anon. 4:36 - These shows are in 2010, and yes, Passion Pit is playing next Friday.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:42 PM

@4:41

You've never been to ATP obviously - don't spread your ignorance.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:42 PM

Ever notice on TicketMaster, when they ask you to enter the two security words, all you need to do is enter the longer of two words and it sends you right through...

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:42 PM

I would want to see them on either the 1st or 2nd night - by the 4th night in a row they would be tired and not as fresh and excited to be playing and with crowds reaction.

so go on a thur or friday but I think the earlier shows at a multi night stand are the best

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:43 PM

my question is which night do you try to see them? Tuesday? When hard core fans who snatched up tix as early as possible welcome them to NYC? The third night, when the band gels after playing together two nights in a row and throws an epic show? The fourth night, where you have to deal with all the asshats who are showing up simply because it's the most convenient of the four nights, but you get to say goodbye to the band? The only one I see as being a no-brainer is that the second show is nothing special.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:45 PM

How many people does Summerstage hold?

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:45 PM

Just checked and both Tuesday and Wednesday are sold out. I'm sure Thurs and Friday will be gone pretty soon.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:47 PM

yeah- BV did say 4 shows, but did you really think they'd all be at summer stage?

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:51 PM

hmm--good point 4:43 (your post wasn't up when i asked the question. great minds, as it were).

--4:45(1)

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:52 PM

not sold out yet

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:52 PM

"@4:41

You've never been to ATP obviously - don't spread your ignorance."

yes, 4:41 does not know what he/she is talking about. the official reunion will probably be at coachella, which will be much cooler than the central park gigs. see you in april!

Posted by bobby the rookie | September 18, 2009 4:53 PM

Only Scott Kannberg will be playing at Pianos not Pavement

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:53 PM

can't wait 'til Kevin Drew comes onstage to sing his favorite song and ruin the entire evening

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:56 PM

ok, i gave in and bought 2 for friday...$100 in 2010 will be worth around $70 so i guess its a good idea.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 4:58 PM

these are just pre-sales though. Most of the tickets will be onsale NEXT Friday. If you want to save $10 per ticket... go to the Nokia Theater next Friday and buy them. Or 6 months from now when they are still on sale... because it's going to be hard for Pavement to sell over 20,000 tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:00 PM

Maybe its time for the Papas Fritas reunion tour.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:01 PM

>>t's going to be hard for Pavement to sell over 20,000 tickets.

I dunno, I think there are 5,000 nerds that will go to all 4 shows

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:02 PM

"these are just pre-sales though. Most of the tickets will be onsale NEXT Friday. "

I won't count on that. I have a feeling these were "general sale only if presale doesn't sell out" presales

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:02 PM

I heard that everyone who bought presale tix will also get to see Pavement play on a cruise ship in the harbor on Monday night. Sweet.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:04 PM

the pixies sold over 20,000 nyc tickets on their initial reunion tour in a flash. i think its they are very comparable.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:07 PM

Looks like Thursday is sold out too. Only Friday is left.

-4:47 PM

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:09 PM

"yeah- BV did say 4 shows, but did you really think they'd all be at summer stage?"

he said they would be at CP, so yeah.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:14 PM

pavement can't play on the water, they'll sink

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:17 PM

where are you getting 20000? Summerstage holds like 2000-2500 at most.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:20 PM

All I can think of is TVOTR at Summerstage in the rain and the 3000+ tickets available for sale on Craigs List that afternoon. I'll pay $5 day of show and then push you out of my way to get to the front all while spilling a warm Genuine Draft on your man-friend.

What a bunch of asses for tying up your cash for a whole year...

Posted by smack | September 18, 2009 5:24 PM

There will certainly be more dates in the US. I work at a screenprint shop and we just got the job to print the tour shirts. They have an additional 4 nights (12/10-12/13) in NYC as well as dates in Boston, Chicago, MN, OH, 6 CA shows.

Then onto Europe in March and then Japan. Not sure if this is the entire tour or just a beginning leg. Anyway, just a little insidery shit.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:25 PM

OH! Ohio! YEA BOYEE.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:27 PM

BV bs - this is it people. no more shows

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:27 PM

bs comment refers to 5:25's comment about shirts.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:30 PM

The only reason I'm pissed that they announced these dates a year in advance is that I now have to listen to a bunch of F***ING losers complain about why they're NOT going to the shows!

I just got 2 Friday tix...SUCK IT D-BAGS!

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:39 PM

too bad i'll be off to college then. let's just hope pavement comes near wherever i get in...

i won't sweat it. hopefully i'll go to coachella and hopefully they will too. if not, whatever. there's always next time. well, if this is an official reunion and not a "one more tour" thing.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:47 PM

Shows just got moved to T5.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:49 PM

T5 shows just got moved to meadowlands.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:50 PM

It's time for you haters to move onto speedballs. this will free up some room for the rest of us who wish to experience good music.

fuckers.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 5:55 PM

if it isn't heavy metal it isn't music

Posted by Joe | September 18, 2009 6:16 PM

Joe, don't you know that there's only two kinds of music. Country and Western.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 6:32 PM

@5:20, Summerstage holds 5500. That times 4 nights equals 22,000, that are either already all gone or will be soon.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 6:45 PM

They suck

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 6:46 PM

pre-sales are only 15% of capacity

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 7:04 PM

"pre-sales are only 15% of capacity"

No way they would commit to further shows with 15% being sold. Those presales were capacity presales. Meow.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 7:33 PM

This is all hilarious. Why the hatred? Malkmus lyrics too obscure? A bad experience with Brighten the Corners or Terror Twilight? Pavement is a great band, regardless of what you think they deserve or how intensely you despise your conception of their audience. They wrote some great songs and people got into them. These will probably be great shows. There's a Crystal Castles thread from a few days ago, please take your shits elsewhere.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 8:04 PM

Got tickets for thursday and friday. Gonna sell that shit for $1000 a pair at least and you'll buy it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 8:24 PM

agree with 8.04
I wonder why all these pavement haters take the time to read articles and write comments if you hate them so much. don't you have anything else to do? take your negativity elsewhere.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 8:33 PM

ugh... so much hatred in these comments. so much blatent misinformation too. it make me sad to think you're all such bad people.

Posted by Anonymous | September 18, 2009 8:35 PM

fuck you all
this is pathetically hilariously stupid

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 12:30 AM

Stop your bitching.
Rumsey Playfield has a 500 person capacity the same as the fucking Bowery. So be happy that Pavement aren't doing four nights at Roseland.

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 1:39 AM

Pavement? Headliner at Coachella? Fucking boring.

Give 'em all three nights at APW but please keep them away from Coachella.

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 6:02 AM

Stop your bitching.

>>>> what are you smoking ?

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 8:19 AM

I love Pavement, but they will not headline Coachella. Definitely a sub-headliner and maybe on Friday (the weaker day).

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 8:50 AM

I love that since trumping each other by the mere possession of tickets is no longer an option, you've turned to arguing over which show will be better. A year in advance. Is it possible that people just want to see a band they really like? God no, because that would be lame.

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 11:36 AM

"Pavement? Headliner at Coachella? Fucking boring."

agreed, but theyll be at coachella. probably in the pixies/mbv subheadliner time slot

Posted by bobby the rookie | September 19, 2009 12:01 PM

i got a wednesday ticket... i like the summer stage, i can get centered and and close as i want and not feel like a sardine... great shows, good sound... a beautiful fall evening and pavement...
please all you geeks stay home, you'll just be talking through the show anyway...

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 12:19 PM

just make sure you don't lose your tickets, 1 year that's a long time to wait.

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 12:51 PM

that's not true, summerstage capacity is 2000 or 1800, something like that. you could fit 500 just on the bleachers, easily. so figure at least 8000 tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 12:54 PM

it says on the summerstage website that Ladysmith Black Mambazo played to 7000 people in 1987. maybe the capacity has decreased since then, but the 5500 number definitely feels like the correct ballpark.

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 2:06 PM

Friday tickets still available, just got 4.

Posted by Anonymous | September 19, 2009 2:15 PM

Ah I read it wrong its 5000 not 500. MY bad.

SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Posted by Anonymous | September 20, 2009 11:27 AM

Typically I like to scowl at people who release frustration in comment boxes, but i must say that this is fucking ridiculous. $40 fucking dollars? And what's with all the goddamn hype? Reunions make a shit load of money off of us. Bands we saw 10 years ago for $5 now charge $50+.
There is no definitive thing happening here in the 2000s. We simply give our money to these people who defined past decades, in the hopes of ... what??? I enjoy these fucking bands - I did 10 years ago - but this weird reunion thing is getting really out of hand, and i think it speak to the fact that we are content with being mere consumers of past trends. Someone do something new for christ sake.

Posted by Alison | September 25, 2009 9:33 AM

I don't know what you are talking about... I mean...I've seen/will see all sort of new, now bands lately..lets see -
Dinosaur Jr.
Mission of Burma
Bob Mould doing Husker Du music
Sonic Youth doing Daydream Nation
the Pixies doing Doolittle
Devo doing Freedom of Choice
Roger Daltrey doing Who songs
Metallica chanelling the 80's
U2 chanelling U2
see? jeez...
