Ghostland Observatory @ All Points West 2009 (more by Chris La Putt)
Ghostland Observatory

If Rage Against the Machine mated with the Spice Girls, you'd get Ghostland Observatory . At once psychotic roids rock and skip-to-my-lou cheese-coated pop, the Texas duo smashed and bopped their way through a 50-minute set in the Sahara tent [at Coachella] on Friday [April 17th] night, leaving the sweat-stained crowd exhausted and exhilarated.

Clad in his signature white cape embroidered with a gaudy purple cross, drummer and '80s-simple synth-master Thomas Ross Turner nodded his head to his Spy vs. Spy beats, which creep up on you in a stealthy way until they hammer you over the head with their redundant magic. Braided singer Aaron Kyle Bherens preened and pranced across the stage in his skinny jeans and "Risky Business" sunglasses, occasionally putting his foot up on the monitors and leaning into the flash and spin of the twisting crowd. You can never really understand what he's saying, but you get the idea that it's intense. After one tune he arched cat-like into a series of slow-motion Bruce Lee-like moves and the crowd howled. [LA Times on Ghostland at Coachella]

not going b/c of T5. at least two other friends feel the same way.

not once has a person who trashed a band on BV ever provided a alternative for us to listen to that isn't garbage.

^ Agreed

It's unfortunately way more "cool" to boast how big a pile of GARBAGE a band are as opposed to either praising them for being awesome or offering up said "better" alternative. Basically, it's just easier (read: lazier) to spew negativity than ANYTHING remotely bordering a well thought out optimistic statement.

And the drones march on.....

blahblahblah, your silly rebuttals don't compensate for the fact that Ghostland Observatory is laughably bad, as is your "taste."

How about.. BOREDOMS?? Ghostland Observatory should eat Eye's shit, maybe he left some steaming for them over at Terminal 5

^ blahblahblah, your silly insults don't compensate for the fact that your elitism is laughably bad, as is your "indieness." GTFO.

I saw Ghostland last night in DC, they were amazing. Don't hate the cape.

Enjoying experimental music does not necessarily make you an elitist; enjoying Ghostland may however reveal you to be completely tasteless. Piss off.
