Great photos. Too bad they were ruined by Photoshop.

Seriously. What the fuck happened to the pictures?

These are not HDR photos. HDR photos require a tripod and multiple exposures of an image, which are then combined in photoshop. It would be impossible to do an HDR photo with a concert. Too much motion. By the time you took the 2nd picture, your subjects would be in a different place, and the images would not line up at all.

This effect was most likely done by shooting RAW and then boosting up the clarity, vibrance and saturation.

You can make HDR photos from one exposure if you shoot in raw with multiple exposures combined from one source file. But what it really looks like is the Shadow/Highlight tool.

does it matter HOW it was done when it still produced the same, shitty HDR-ish effect? i hope people will stop raping their photos with that shit.

You do realize that you can shoot a single image in RAW, make 3 copies, and adjust each of the exposures - you can make an HDR style photo. Right?

"is that Food Party's Thu Tran manning the toilet paper gun?"

yes

I totally went a little nutso with lightroom on these... but after I did one or two, I thought it was a lot more fun to have a punchy hot mess that just straight up technically 'correct' pictures.

It's called a party. I tried to make it feel like one. The show itself was a punchy hot mess... and I think the pictures match.

For the purists - fear not. I doubt I'll be taking such liberties elsewhere...

:)

Best,
Tim

"Fordham prohibits inappropriate behavior that is a direct result of alcohol consumption."

On the other hand, F.U. is perfectly fine with inappropriate behavior that is not a direct result of alcohol consumption. Go Jesuits!

"You do realize that you can shoot a single image in RAW, make 3 copies, and adjust each of the exposures - you can make an HDR style photo. Right?"

Sure, an HDR "style" photo. But proper HDR has multiple focal distances so everything from foreground to background is in focus. Calling something HDR style just because it has crazy coloring and saturation is wholly inaccurate.

That doesn't even make any sense. If he shot all of these at f/16 the entire scene would be in focus anyways. And nowhere in the definition of HDR photos does it say you must adjust the aperture to change the exposure. Most people simply change their shutter speeds.

lol

Thank you Girl Talk & American Apparel. You’ve successfully convinced a generation of dipshits that it’s cool to dress like an extra in a party scene from Charles In Charge.

look at all those "left wing" Obama loving hypocrites wasting miles and miles of toilet paper. Suspending your beliefs in saving the environment because you're at a Girl Talk show?
