a few weeks ago, i attended a show at union pool in brooklyn. when i arrived, an unidentified band was onstage playing generic, circa 1998 black metal -- relentless blast beats, buzzsaw guitars, growling -- and pretty poorly at that. i texted the person i was meeting there, whom i was having trouble locating, that this band is fucking terrible and to meet me outside. i later found out the band was liturgy.
