Pavement reunion double confirmed w/ exact NYC date

"After years of "Pavement to Reunite?" headlines here on Pitchfork, we were a bit wary of yet another reunion report on BrooklynVegan last night. But shit, this one really seems to be legit.Remember that all Summerstage shows that cost money are considered benefits.According to a source who is real and official and not a figment of our imagination, Pavement will perform a benefit show at Central Park SummerStage on September 21, 2010. Mark your motherfucking calendars." [Pitchfork]
UPDATE: This is now officially announced

I love Wowee Zowee. I remember the first time I heard it, it literally blew me away. Me and my friend were about 18 in highschool and we were jacking off together because we were both curious. I remember as every track progressed on the album, our shafts got longer, harder, thicker and you could see the blood engorging our shaved cocks. Finally by the end of the album we'd both been at the brink for awhile and when the album finished, our thick wads just shot up and landed on each others stomachs. Steve Malkmus is definitely one of the past two decades most iconic songwriters.

"it literally blew me away"
Literally? You were blown away? Where did you end up landing?
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2009 12:28 PM
Phewww! Less than a year to put together a sick fixie so I look cool riding to the show and trying to buy a scalped ticket for $200
Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2009 12:31 PM
12:28 you didn't read the entire thing because then you would have known the gross results of what 12:16 meant by "blown away" *shivers*

Pavement announced this show a year in advance so that they could steal the headlines from the incarcerated Hipster Grifter.

this is BAAAD news for Rivers Cuomo

Fans had to wait for years, whats another one to them? If anything the hype over the reunion will have died by the time it actually happens which translates to less enthusiastic ticket sales. Unless they're going on sale next week.

Bob N, 2008: “I don’t plan my life like it is going to happen, but I’m hopeful that it will. You know, Gary would be involved. Steve West would be involved. It would be a six-man band. Gary would play on his songs and Westie would play on his. Not before 2010… I think Malkmus would consider the idea over 2009… and I’m hoping something would occur between January and August of 2010."

they sucked at Lollapalooza... 1995 was it? Don't remember. when Elastica blows you off the stage you're in trouble.
most overrated band in my lifetime.
im gonna buy a ticket just so I can sell it to some sucker for 200 bucks.

I never got into Pavement. I can understand why they're influential because they created a certain style of sound that many bands leached onto after their demise, but I just think they sound boring aside from all that. When I think of Pavement, I think of drab brown cords because they're so dull, neutral and boring.

What's great about the deadpan masturbation anecdote/music assessment comments is the ease with which the writer(s) shift between those two categories, blissfully unaware of any incompatibility between them. They take both ejaculation and music very seriously, and assume that you do too. Also, these comments could easily be the first paragraph of a Pitchfork review.

shut the fuck up about pavement already
jesus fuck
to malkmus' credit, real emotional trash is an incredible album, as opposed to the shit pavement came up with.

Pavement is f'ing awesome. If you don't like them, keep listening to your shitty fucking Animal Collective album and your Passion Pit and all of that other repetitive hipster shit.
Half of the commenters were probably in fucking elementary school listening to fucking Z-100 when Pavement came out.

Pitchfork's source for confirmation of the reunion is BV, and BV's source for DOUBLE confirmation of the show is....Pitchfork!
So there you go. Shit, I guess it must be true.
I feel bad for all you haters who are apparently going to be physically dragged to this show against your will. If only you had the freedom to stay home and shut the fuck up, huh?
