Electric Zoo Festival 2009
Electric Zoo Festival 2009

"Gigantic electronic music festivals have always been more the province of the International EDM scene. However, with electronic music experiencing a renaissance level resurgence in the United States, the time was right for a US foray into a celebration of the vibe, culture and sonically astounding experience of dance music. The inaugural Electric Zoo Festival, held over this past Labor Day weekend in New York was a party that succeeded in capturing the essence of the intense passion people have for music, by presenting it in it's best light, outdoors, at Randall's Island Park, in such a manner where old school house head met up with hipster, candy ravers next to jacked up Staten Island and Jersey gym freaks and their orange tanned girlfriends. Everybody was represented, everyone was respected, and certainly a precedent was set for the justification of making this a regular addition to the national EDM calendar." [True Genius Requires Insanity]
Showtrotta and three separate BV photographers ventured out to Randall's Island over the weekend. Ryan was there on Sunday. Here are his pictures...

On BV threads? Yeah, more often than not.

"Met up with hipsters, candy ravers, next to jacked up Staten Island and Jersey gym freaks"

Perfect description right there. Despite the somewhat conflicting "scenes" everyone was having a great time and there was a good vibe about the whole event. It was great to see people get excited about the music. I only went on day 1 but Tiga, Luciano, Busy P, & Mehdi were highlights. $9 for a can of Brooklyn though, ouch...

I don't know if the object behind the photos above were to only highlight the tackiest aspects of the event but, speaking as a fan of some of the performers at this Festival, the crowd looks painfully cheesy! Purple Dr. Suess hats, hippy trance costumes and swimming pool blow up toys worn as fashion accesories...in 2009 no less. Really?

have to say day two was much better then day one just IMO.

i am one of those candy ravers, and i had a blast. it was alot of fun seeing all of the different kind of ppl that showed up.

all in the all electric zoo was alot of fun both days.

just wish the picture they took of me and my girlfriend was up, it came out pretty sick

it's like a zooo and stuffffff.... but it's electric... BOOGIE WOOOGIE WOOGIE!!!

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 4:55 PM

the scenesters you just have to get over...is it really that much better at Pacha? not really. fact is you don't get to see the big names in small, low ceiling, place could explode for any number of reasons type of places anymore. some of them, you never could. this is new york city and half the fun is watching the people...even the multi bridge and tunnel folks. if everyone was like you or me, it would be fucking boring.

glad that the tackiest of the tacky came out because no matter the crowd, it would be nice to have a recurring electronic fest here. we deserve it goddamnit.

My girlfriend and I went to both days of the festival and it was completely amazing. It goes without saying that there were a few baby ravers in the crowd but overall, people were in high spirits and were really showing love to the performers. I would not expect the Brooklyn hipster who is such an oh so ironic souls to find anything good about a House / Trance / Progressive scene because they are too busy roaming through thrift shops in search of the perfect slighly used shirt or arguing why personal hygiene is unimportant in the big scheme of things. Lets just say that those who love to dance and spead joy were at Electric Zoo in mass and we all had a blast. Expensive beers and all.

If you want to buy a car, you will have to receive the home loans. Furthermore, my mother usually takes a consolidation loan, which seems to be really fast.

Students spend their money for unimportant stuff. I argue that it's much better pay that money to some essay writing service to complete the custom essays.

That is not great to fail an academic future, because of not professional term papers examples. But, college students will prevent that, using the essay example service.

Are you able to accomplish the term papers per several hours? Not exactly? However the custom writing service would do it for you.
