Raekwon celebrated his new album w/ Ghostface, Diddy & friends @ Santos Party House last night (video)

The first of two Raekwon album release parties happened last night at a very packed Santos Party House in NYC (8/8). Not surprisingly, all advertised guests didn't show up. Talib Kweli was on the flyer, but I guess they forgot that Talib already had a scheduled gig for last night... with Mos Def... at House of Blues in Boston. Hilarity aside, Raekwon's new album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II is one of the best hip hop albums of the year, and there was craziness inside Santos last night. Some videos below...

Aside from the fact that nearly every advertised guest was missing (Beanie Sigel's absence was particularly heartbreaking), this shit was phenomenal.

i actually love the wu-tang clan albums but you just cant go to something like this.

This is an excellent example of why I do not attend hip hop shows. 1-3 main guys, and 50 from their entourage on stage swallowing the mics the whole time. Sounds god awful. Good for Chef for coming back around, though.

Apparently, the S.O.B.'s show is $20, and you get a copy of the record. That would've been nice to know, since I paid $30 for Santos, and the guests cancelled.

Despite the lack of artists from the original lineup, there were some amazing and unexpected appearances/performances. Grandmaster Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz, Ice-T, Eric B, Marley Marl, Brand Nubian, Redman, Erick Sermon. Ghostface was MIA for most of the night, but Cappa definitely ripped it.
