"...Sunny Day Real Estate about to take stage at Terminal 5. Been waiting 10 years for this show." - Kevin Vasconcellos

"terminal 5 with my favorite season. never heard of sunny day real estate but they're pretty decent." - Dan Colonna

"...last nights Sunny Day Real Estate show at Terminal 5? Most amazing show I've been to in ages" - soynutz7

Sunny Day Real Estate

"The band was flawless and all the hits from both "Diary" and "LP2" were represented with amazing tenacity and one of the best sets I have seen in recent years. After they played the new song from the set, I yelled "10 more". Interesting note as of course I was wearing my Washed Up Emo logo shirt and at one point Jeremy looks up at the 2nd level and he squints, what feels like reads my shirt then laughs as he starts back into a verse. Was there a giant blow up of Pete Wentz's ego? Not sure but my point had been made, the crowd was washed up and old but we are here Sunny Day Real Estate and we aren't going away.
After a pleasant turn of events, I got to meet all the members of the band and some quality time was had. In those moments I learned and will share with some that will be helpful for this blog and hope you find exciting.

- They consider emo a bad word and use it as an insult.
- Possible recording of a new album is a GOOD possibility when they get back from tour.
- They wanted to end with "Days Were Golden" as on the "How it Feels Tour..." but no dice.
- Dan from SDRE heard me yell "10 more" and agrees with me that the vibe is so good now it could happen!
- Dan also approves of WashedUpEmo.com and wants it to continue for its good work on education on his band and others like it.

Nuff said, I pretty much take that as if President Obama said it to me. I take your challenge Mr. Dan (was in Dashboard Confessional for a hot minute) Hoerner and will continue my fight against all that has been ruined with this genre, all that has been put in neon lights, tight pants and keyboards.

Take back the loud/soft dynamic, take back the screaming and heartfelt lyrics and TAKE BACK what is rightfully ours. Sunny Day Real Estate are back and God help me but I think we are making progress." [WashedUpEmo.com]

a jealous sound reunion is nice. but a knapsack reunion would be even better.

new sunny day real estate album is old news.

"terminal 5 with my favorite season. never heard of sunny day real estate but they're pretty decent." - Dan Colonna

If you look at the guy's Twitter feed, he talks about Foo Fighters. He knows Foo Fighters, but has no idea where half of the original band came from.

it's old news because of the link in my name. link didn't work in the comment i just made...

Great pictorial, BV! I saw the show in Portland and wasn't able to bring in my camera. Boo... :(

did they play anything from the third album? days were golden is a great song..

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2009 9:37 AM

9:37, did you read the setlist? it is right there.
The only song from the 3rd album is Guitar and Video Games.
They have been focusing on the 1st 2 albums, because this was the lineup for those two albums only.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2009 9:41 AM

They did not play "8" so they can go fuck themselves.

Still a good show, though.

you think they will play another NYC show for the Jews who were fasting for Yom Kippur?!

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2009 12:03 PM

Thought I was born a decade too late to see this band. Saw Texas is the Reason in NYC, too... where's my second Braid reunion!?

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2009 12:21 PM

Anyone have the Jealous Sound setlist? I suppose it's too much to hope they played any Knapsack songs...

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2009 12:22 PM

12:21
I doubt Braid will reunite for a tour again. When the reunion tour stopped in Seattle, there were maybe 100-150 people there and the band all looked like they hated each other.

Jealous Sound was the most boring generic tripe I have ever heard. Nothing offensive but just... who cares? It's the musical equivalent of two pieces of white bread with one slice of baloney in the middle.
PS Sunny Day was incredible.

Funny to see my tweet quoted above. It was a great show indeed.

Thanks for the mention and use from WashedUpEmo.com! A blog about why emo should die and longing for the days when you typed "emo" into a search engine and nothing came up.

Hey man, I enjoy your writing, and your website....so I think you'll appreciate this--I was at the boston show on 9/28...first of all, un-fucking-believable..they sounded, somehow, better live...and god knows how the hell jeremy can scream and then moments later hit the highest note known to man.
But I have a grievance, unfortunately..and it came with the song, 48. When it was time for him to scream "Pitiful, boy"..or "Beautiful boy" ...jeremy instead did some harmonizing...maybe it was to save his voice some stress, but it's my favorite part of the song!!! I was profoundly disappointed, but of course, gave the band, jeremy, a break. Could you possibly know why? I feel as though he would only take it out because the lyric seemed to him unfitting...

Needs more How it Feels to Be Something On. :\

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2009 5:53 PM

As said previously, HOw it feels did not have the original band lineup.
These shows are the original lineup, so they are playing almost all songs from those two albums.
And they were just re-issued, so they are promoting them as well.
