"It looks likes Patience retro-fitted a pair of cowgirl boots on top of some Chuck Taylors. She's just a regular-ole DIY shoe cobbler. This is what it has come to, I'm talking about her shoes -- a sign that I have run out of things to talk about...Pearl and the Beard also shared the bill with the Grates at Mercury Lounge in NYC on Friday night (9/4). More pictures and the setlist from the show below......This is third time I've seen them at Mercury. Like they have before, they played in front of Tigercity. The first time I saw them back in 2006, they were on killer line-up with Corinne Bailey Rae and The Guillemots. Anyway, they always throw down the good times. It hasn't gotten old for me, seeing Pae jump around like a mad woman and displaying her outgoing personality." [Music Snobbery]

It was my 2nd time seeing them this year. The grates are the most down to earth band ever! I wish them much luck here in the US.
