DOWNLOAD: Katie Stelmanis - In My Favour (MP3)

@ the Titus Andronicus show @ Monster Island (more by Leia Jospe)
Titus Andronicus

Along with a link for $18 tickets, which go on sale Friday, September 11th at 10am, there's some new insight into the lineup of Fucked Up's November 5th Chemistry of Common Life show at Brooklyn Masonic Temple. The show will feature "Andrew W.K. (Keyboards) / Vivian Girls (Backup Vocals) With Guests: Titus Andronicus / Katie Stelmanis." Sounds good!

You can also catch Titus Andronicus on October 15th at Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. It's the last date of their current tour with So So Glos. Vivian Girls are on tour at the moment too, with the Beets. They play their next NYC show right after they get back, which will also be their first of two shows at a Masonic temple in one week.... it's on Halloween at the Ridgewood Masonic Temple with Crystal Stilts (followed by the F'd Up Masonic show listed above).

Andrew W.K. (whose new album, 55 Cadillac, is out now) is collaborating with Calder Quartet at his own gigs this fall. Did anyone happen to catch him on the street on the 5th?

Katie Stelmanis's amazing video for "Believe Me" and a recent interview are posted below...

I was scared a week would go by without Vivian Girls talk..

I'm really curious..How exactly are they able to play shows all over the world? They don't sell many records and the label they are on is a small indie..Who is paying the bill for this?

Why don't you stop worrying about stuff like this and concentrate on doing something with your life. K thx.

so what do you guys wanna talk about?

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 2:11 PM

1:31 is not very well informed. Vivian Girls have sold more albums than any other bands on In the Red, and In The Red is a very savvy label. Label size is somewhat irrelevant now, what matters is distribution and smarts.

More importantly to touring, the Vivian Girls are wildly popular as a download band. Their first record is found in many many people's iTunes, whether they bought the record or didn't.

They are in high demand and widely loved, despite what a few angry cranks of Brooklyn Vegan comments may have to say.

thanks 2:12 for clearing that up for me. Never knew the Vivian Girls are "widely loved".

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 2:37 PM

well 2:37, glad to clue you in.

Vivian Girls are very popular, but Brooklyn Vegan is full of embittered haters who can't see the obvious through the jealous tears clogging their petty little eyeballs.

Brooklyn Vegan is full of embittered haters who can't see the obvious through the jealous tears clogging their petty little eyeballs

fortunately its also filled with narcissistic publicists and band members pretending to be objective commenters

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 2:56 PM

2:51..I have read your comments and decided to give Vivian Girls another try..nope still shit.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 2:58 PM

well 2:58, let me be the first to tell you... who gives a shit what you think?

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 2:59 PM

I am neither in this band nor am a publicist, nor work for them. But I've got no doubt you haters are in bands that aren't getting shit for attention, and/or are publicists saddled with go-nowhere bands you took on due to bad taste and poor judgement.

The Vivian Girls continue to get more and more popular every month, and yet all this time you guys have been insisting "they suck." Are all these uninitiated, unconnected new fans wrong or are you just jealous? My momma always told me the simplest explanation was probably the right one.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 3:06 PM

Just because I'm not a fan and talk shit about the Vivivan Girls doesn't mean I'm a pathetic jealous musician working at a bowling alley. I'm just sick of hearing about them and think they're crap..that's all.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 3:30 PM

well 3:30, you sure are wasting a lot of time and energy over this band then

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 3:48 PM

Thanks Katy

More music videos should feature synchronized swimming.

Hey 3:06, popularity and shittiness aren't mutually exclusive.

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2009 10:46 PM

hey 3:06. obsessive hate is usually a sign of inadequacy and/or a tiny dick

Posted by Anonymous | September 9, 2009 12:10 PM

so this is what you guys wanted to talk about? you should all just give up and start going to guido raves. hopefully it will be too loud for people to hear you talk there, and mayeb you'll even get beat up.

So I guess Titus Andronicus is opening for this show, and Vivian Girls will be actually playing on staged with Fucked Up?
