rare People Under The Stairs show for NYC. Last was w/ Stetsasonic about a year ago. They have a new album (their 7th) coming out in Oct. You should check the show out if you can, it's gonna be good.

"Morningwood plays a secret show..."

Is that really necessary? Seems like this band should be screaming on top of the roof begging folks to show up.

SunnO))) set times:

Fuck that's late, plus it'll take forever to get back home.

Posted by preston | September 22, 2009 6:31 PM

"spankrock may or may not be playing". nail.on.head.

---My thoughts exactly. Or just give up already——we all now one cannot polish a turd.

Soulsavers due on "around 10:15" (which means 10:30).

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2009 8:19 PM

and then?

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2009 8:21 PM

Am I missing something about SunnO)))? Is seems pretty fucking horrible.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2009 8:27 PM

sunno are horrible...i saw them with sunburned hand of the man at tonic and some other venue as well...i couldnt believe how boring they were.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2009 8:37 PM

Everyone asking about Sunn O)))... I was once confused as well.

You have to like Metal/Drone and have a couple things + have patience when listening.

1.Loud Speakers/Headphones
2.WEED-preferably not Schwag.
3.Time +Patience enough to listen.

but I do warn you you must give it your attention, do not listen while sweepy.

^------ this is what we are meant to think. However, there is absolutely nothing there. A beginner guitar player with really expensive vintage gear could do the same thing musically. I guess it could be interesting to watch them live if you were really fucked up because of the sheer volume, smoke, costumes, etc.
But anyone that tells you they can listen to their albums and actually enjoy it is full of shit.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2009 9:39 PM

i dunno...i thought they were boring as shit until i heard their new album. it's actually pretty fucking good.

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2009 11:39 PM

I've seen Sunn O))) last summer (with Eagle Twin) and in 2006 (with Boris), both times sober...blew me away. Some of the most amazing shows I've ever been to in my lifetime. That's a fucking kvlt lineup right there. I could imagine the Masonic Temple collapsing tonight.

And oh yeah, anyone who doesn't wear earplugs to a Sunn O))) show deserves to go deaf. You should know better.

And oh yeah, this statement is so full of shit. I appreciate Sunn O))) for their minimalist approach to Black Metal and Doom Metal. It goes to show that they're not afraid to go with the grain on what Black and Doom Metal should sound like. I could also apply the same level of appreciation for Noise and Powerelectronics. These genres are not for everybody, will you ever see Sunn O))) play Lollapalooza? Or a pool party in Williamsburg for that matter? Like I said earlier, it's definitely not for everybody.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2009 1:28 AM

Thank goodness their not for everyone. Those folks couldnt talk over the show anyways, but I suppose they might try. KTL is also a great project with Stephen O'malley and PITA.

Wish I could have made it to the show tonight.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2009 4:05 AM

the show last night was mind blowing...

Posted by venison | September 23, 2009 9:23 AM

Agreed with 9:23

The sounds were actually way more diverse (not riffing over and over again) than the haters on this thread predicted.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2009 9:32 AM

Are you folks serious with this Sunn O shit? Power chords and smoke with hoods on, and that's some of the most amazing stuff you've ever been to? You need to broaden your musical horizons a bit, and get rid of your Dungeons & Dragons stuff.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2009 9:53 AM

Didn't stay for Sunn O))) for precisely the above reasons. But Earth were colossal. What a great band.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2009 2:04 PM

Im just confused as to why theres some sort of notion that sunn is a band that makes music. They are some crazy guys that make an amazing atmosphere to be within.
Yeah, I guess if you came expecting to rock out, show would have sucked.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2009 3:16 PM

saw slaraffenland open for akron/family last week and they were GREAT

Posted by chris | September 23, 2009 4:25 PM

How could you go to this and then not stay for Sunn O)))? That's just dumb.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2009 10:12 PM

^^^

Simple. I'm bored silly by what Sunn do. I was there for Pelican and (especially) Earth. I've been to enough shows in my life to not tolerate stuff that bores me.

Posted by Anonymous | September 23, 2009 11:21 PM

an amazing show... earth played a short set... i saw sunn o))) last year at knitting factory, but this show was spectacular... glad i saw it, they were really over the top... where are the pictures... oh, yeah, had to make room for U2...
real alternative blog site...
