YLT = good people with integrity.

Gee, I wonder if Ira will wear an ironic t-shirt and red chucks.

YLT = the least good of the good bands.

@12:52am Let me guess your favorites, Ya Ya Ya's, Animal Collective and MGMT? Last year your liked the strokes.
I'll admit, I once never understood why YLT was so popular, then I happened to see them live cuz I was bored with nothing to do while working in Austin. I've been a convert ever since. The live show beats the pants off your skinny jeans band du jour.

yo la tengo are undeniable & i feel bad for you if you don't get them

yo la tengo have 2 classic albums...painful and i can hear the heart...and mostly all of their others are solid B+ efforts.
their new album is one of their best...its great.
superchunk is sort of another band that has a similar career trajectory...just without the classic albums...though on the mouth and foolish are really great.

I only got into YLT last year when someone gave me a copy of Painful. Since then, I've acquired 3 other cd's (I Can Hear The Heart...., Electro-pura and I Am Not Afraid....). I really enjoy all 4 of the cd's I've heard.
It's not too late and definitely worthwhile to get into YLT.

just an observation: I just taking a glance at Pitchfork's "Guest List: 2000s Edition"
Take a look at John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats
I don't listen to that band at all but that guy sounds like a total fucking tool.

I RSVPd and didn't hear back. Anyone heard back?

Yeah that Pitchfork Guest List: 2000 edition is has some pretty awful stuff listed. It amazes me how some really great musicians could have such awful taste in music. I mean not one person mentioned the Avalanches "Since I Left You" which is the best record of the decade.
