Lightning Bolt

"When you hear the stories that after Hisham Bharoocha left [Lightning Bolt] to form Black Dice, Chippendale took over vocals by jamming the microphone into his mouth, it all seems to make perfect sense. Lightning Bolt concentrate their efforts around the sheer propulsion and energy their music drives off. And while Chippendale has always been an excellent drummer, the vocals he provides here and there open up the sounds in immense manners. On the forever moving "Transmissionary," fused with menacing, twirling music that swirls and confuses, his vocals convey a ghostly blend of spectral vision - they're spooky, vital and completely necessary." [adequacy.net]
Hisham Bharoocha is no longer in Black Dice either. He now spends his time performing as Soft Circle. He released a split 12 inch on PPM with High Places in July

Black Dice, Mick Barr and TV Ghost opened for Lightning Bolt at Above the Auto Parts in Bushwick last night (10/30). Leia missed the first two bands, but more shots from the second half of the show, below...

the only thing more unreal than the sound of LB live is how idiotic and childish their "fans" act. it seems like kids just come to the shows to push each other around and create havoc (like the fireworks thrown at the band before they even started last night. seconds later todd p is walking through a crowded room with a roman candle that some jerk-off lit inside looking for a safe place to put it out.). lightning bolt keeps getting better and better, but the people coming out to the shows seem less and less interested in the actual LB music, more in the spectacle they feel they need to be a part of. Lightning Bolt should play on a stage 20 feet off the ground 20 feet from a fully seated and strapped in crowd so that people actually have to watch/listen to them.

was incredible, need more shows at auto parts store

Posted by Anonymous | October 31, 2009 3:37 PM

appreciate your concern about lightning bolt fans, but crowds seem to be on a steady decline and i'll take any half-decent pits i can get

also fuck the bro that threw shit at mick barr

that show was insane and i agree with you 3:36, that asshole who threw the sparkler at brian gibson should have his cock chopped off and fed to him. but overall it was just so epic and awesome. especially when they played mega ghost. place was going apeshit.

Posted by Anonymous | October 31, 2009 7:59 PM

awesome show/venue, fuck whoever threw the smoke bomb at lightning bolt.

Posted by Anonymous | October 31, 2009 9:08 PM

Show was fuckin sick!!!! Fuck the asshole who threw that smoke bomb or what ever it was. How can the band play if they are on fire guys??? I do not agree that the show was too insane. If you couldnt handle it, and your their just to listen and stand, stay in the fuckin back. Us people who do move and jump and shove are listening to the music. The difference is were also feeling the music too.

I agree about the fans. I saw them the night before in Providence RI and even their home town crowds are just childish and needlessly violent imo

Posted by Ben | October 31, 2009 10:36 PM

yea those obnoxious fans need to get the shit kicked out of them. break their fucking kneecaps!

Posted by Anonymous | October 31, 2009 11:05 PM
