Peter Bjorn and John @ Webster Hall in April (more by Tim Griffin)
Peter Bjorn and John

Oops! Peter Bjorn and John's November 10th Terminal 5 show has been moved down to the smaller Webster Hall one day earlier (November 9th). El Perro Del Mar and Brooklyn (via Japan)'s The Suzan open the show. All T5 tix will be honored, and some are still on sale too.

El Perro Del Mar was supposed to play Joe's Pub on November 9th, so that was also canceled with this change.

The Suzan...

"was formed by two Japanese girls, RIE(Guitar) and SAORI(Vocal) in the summer of 2003. They had been sicking and tired of recent Japanese POP idol music. So they decided to produce their own songs and bring the movement and revolution to the music scene of not only Japan but also the world by their sound."
Based on watching one of their videos (below), I'm not sure how soon they'll be making a name for themselves in the world, but somehow they got on this T5 bill, and on one of the two Fool's Gold CMJ parties this year. The flyer and more info below...

The Suzan

Indie powerhouse Fool's Gold continue their dedication to smashing events in their hometown with two nights of CMJ madness on October 21st and 22nd. The showcases double as a birthday celebration for the label, which was founded in 2007 by A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, and helped turn an underground DJ scene into a genre-transcending musical force with some of the most exciting new releases of the past two years.

First up on Wednesday 10/21 is a showcase at 88 Palace in NYC - a converted dim sum restaurant! The homemade rave vibe is perfect for the label, who will be showcasing new signings like Donnis and Kingdom, along with live bands (a first for FG) Vega and The Suzan, as well as Treasure Fingers, Trackademicks, and Sammy Bananas. The next night (10/22) at N8 in Brooklyn, Fool's Gold's dance music trailblazers Jokers Of The Scene, LA Riots and Nacho Lovers take over the decks, joined by friends Jamie xx, Udachi + Jubilee, and special guests. Both nights are not to be missed! Sleep is wildly overrated!

this isnt real suprising, new record sucks

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 12:15 AM

pretty telling when passion pit sells out a show at T5 and adds another and PB&j has to downgrade, these guys are so 2008, 15 minutes long gone yawn

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 12:34 AM

writers block is so good though! cant help loving that album.

New album doesn't really suck. Unfortunately people decide what to listen to according to hit songs and what's "cool" at the moment. Since the album did not have a "Young Folks," they have to downgrade venues. PB&J are a great band, and they're even better live than in the studio. It's just not the kind of music neither top 40 nor indie kids would listen to. The reason they got big was the fact that "Young Folks" was an extremely catchy song that appealed to both of these groups. Now they need to continue with what they have been doing and keep up the good work, even if it's with a smaller audience.

That's a shame they can't get a bigger audience, such a good band live.

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 1:35 AM

It's never a shame when a band isn't playing Terminal 5. sorry

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 1:38 AM

They're greedy and getting what they deserve

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 1:39 AM

they are greedy and schtick gets old

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 1:43 AM

they are reedy and snappy dressers

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 1:52 AM

the new record is boring and nothing like their old shit, hope they made alot of $ off the last

1:38 - AGREED

Though in truth, Webster's acoustics are nothing to write home about either. Just a small upgrade in sound for the downgrade in capacity. The real upgrade is the venue staff. But that's just important for jerks like me that get kicked out of Girl Talk for being shoved against barriers by throngs of screaming teenage girls. Yeah, so pretty much fuck T5 and every scumbag that works their security.

Mehnyway, PB&J really were a trend band. Came and went faster than you can say Young Folks.

Now, let's see if Passion Pit will play Webster. Some of us are still enjoying their 15 minutes a la Sleepyhead, no?

PB&J might have been a trend band for those people who follow trends. "Living Thing" is a great album. I am sure 90% of people talking about it haven't actually listened to it. Also if they were greedy, they would have attempted to make a mainstream album. This album couldn't be further from that and is beautiful.

Hey, 2:34 - you probably don't read Brooklyn Vegan then, right?

"It's never a shame when a band isn't playing Terminal 5. sorry"

YES!!

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 2:49 AM

the PB&J show was moved from Nov. 10th to the 9th, so El Perro Del Mar's show at Joe's Pub has been cancelled...

Peter Bjorn & Pwnd!

New album is awful. easily forgettable songs. "shut the F up boy song" has to be worst one on it.

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 3:42 AM

12:34 is right. You people only like the fashionable band of the moment and when last years big band come out with their new album they are already forgotten and put in the trash and mocked as unfashionable and old. You treat them like last years clothes.

4:09 I am still wearing clothes from 5 years ago! Times are tough!

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 7:19 AM

I was wearing clothes from yesterday still, but now I may go and change because some hummus fell out of my pita and landed on my sleeve.
Peter Bjorn & John will hopefully be at the laundramat because I want to show them how good I can whistle. Perhaps they will have me record with them for their next album.

We just have had enough of us
Let's call the whole thing off.

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 8:56 AM

"young folks" is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

So I guess this means El Perro Del Mar's solo show at Joe's Pub is off? Sucks.

"the PB&J show was moved from Nov. 10th to the 9th, so El Perro Del Mar's show at Joe's Pub has been cancelled..."

I missed that first time around. Post updated. thanks

Oh man I saw these guys at Webster Hall like two years ago and man was the crowd ever douchey.

Posted by Anonymous | October 14, 2009 10:30 AM

I'm THRILLED that PB&J are playing Webster Hall...it bums me out every time I have to skip a concert because it's at T5, the worst venue in so many ways. "Writer's Block" is so much more than "Young Folks;" that album turned me into a lifelong PB&J fan. Peter Moren's solo album is also truly excellent, highly recommended. So what if I'm not in love with their newest album. They have too many great songs for me to knock the band.
