Who do you think the special guests will be? The xx and Neon Indian? (who are both listed as DJ's).

Neon Indian plays the TopMan show the same night (and is contractually obligated not to play any other CMJ-time shows because of it).

Cymbals Eat Guitars and The Smith Westerns are also both playing the BrooklynVegan show earlier at Pianos the same day.

Surfer Blood is playing the BrooklynVegan show at Pianos on Thursday.

Glad there is finally a show that has all the bands I wanted to see at CMJ and no filler. Most of the other ones you get stuck watching mediocre stuff in-between.

Posted by Geoff | October 21, 2009 10:49 PM

couldn't agree more, geoff. plus, all ages.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 10:52 PM

Of course it is all dude bands, not one girl on the bill. Todd P + Ryan Schreiber working together a= the same bullshit. .

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 10:57 PM

yeah, its not like he single-handedly made vivian girls or anything.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 10:59 PM

pitchfork used to so reputable, now he just posts what todd p likes.

ill be there with my backpack and corny glasses having awkward chats with girls, admission is knowledge of the length of todd p's cock

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 10:09 AM

are there awesome super secret shows for cool old people who don't have awkward chats with girls, own backpacks, or wear corny glasses? all three things seem to be quite common at shows. maybe you don't go to shows?

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 10:20 AM

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 10:50 AM

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 2:04 PM

oh man, whatever. this is the new todd p. joint and anything he does, i'm immediately all about it. he must be the best tastemaker in the world to get all these super amazing bands and all the kids that will come out will have a dance party and dance and fun and oh man i love todd patrick foever ago and always have and can't wait till he books my new favorite underground band that sounds like javellin and no one has even heard of yet but i can't wait to say that i saw them first at a super secret all ages parents living room.

backpacks! glasses!
ready!

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 3:03 PM

will there be complimentary vegan hummus?

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 3:41 PM

hard really to see the joke there 3:03.

I'm pretty legitimately psyched when someone taks the time to put on chill parties and is on the ball about new good bands.

what's your metametametasarcasm getting at exactly?

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 3:42 PM

what time will the cops show up?

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 5:12 PM

@ 3:42

I am not 3:03 but I am sure that their metametametasarcasm is sarcasm that's making fun of you for awaiting dictation about what's cool.
I love jokes about Todd P., though.

that said, what time does javelin go on?

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 5:22 PM

bv comments are just farts, typed

they're seemingly involuntarily squeezed out, without any thought, every day... and you kind of want to peace out and go somewhere else when happen upon one somebody else's laid down

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 5:46 PM

todd p posts really get the haters a hatin

envy sure is ugly

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 5:49 PM

word up. why does toddp get so much hate? best booker in nyc..

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 6:06 PM

whenever someone does something and gets some recognition for it, then the people who aren't doing shit with their lives and/or don't get shit for recognition get peeved

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 6:23 PM

now wait til you hear just what I think about todd p

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 6:25 PM

someone should sell adderall at this show

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 8:24 PM

todd p posts really get the haters a hatin

envy sure is ugly

I think its maybe because he can be a scenester with a big head and he wasnt as much in the past. Plus only a handful of these bands are worth seeing. Too much of a social scene with no substance regurgitating the past .
No hate. Just the facts.

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 2:44 AM

some people let shit go to their head. FACT!

Posted by IM COOLER THAN YOU | October 23, 2009 10:02 AM

Todd P gets way more pussy than all of you combined

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 10:33 AM

10:33- Quality over quantity?

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 10:42 AM

have you ever fucked the vivian girls?

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 10:46 AM

10:33 HA! NO he doesn't. you've clearly never interacted with him.. girls find him creepy.

It's not all envy, turtle dick (2:44). God bless him for doing what he does. I go to his shows..

BUT he books the same 15 fucking bands. And most of them fucking suck. It's the same concept as radio placement. People like cause todd books "Cool" shows with them. Todd Books them because he knows fuckheads with more taste in jeans than music will go..

This took less than 30 seconds and was worth it.

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 11:02 AM

OOOH so sorry 2:44, 5:49 is a frightened turtle dick..

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 11:04 AM

"God bless him for doing what he does. I go to his shows..

BUT he books the same 15 fucking bands. And most of them fucking suck."

Then why do you go to his shows?

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 11:19 AM

Todd= God
Anyone who doesn't think so is just a hater who doesn't get laid and has no taste because they don't like the brilliance of the Vivian Girls and everything everyone here has said just to defend him as someone they don't even know but feel that they must come to his defense if he should ever book their scenester band that sounds just like the same bullshit he books over and over again in skinny jeans and glasses that gets passed for being so original and really is not

But,Todd=God
And Todd owns NYC now
Thank you, Todd
and what can Todd do for you today

Discuss.

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 2:56 PM

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 3:44 PM

i wish i could wear skinny jeans!

Posted by Dan Deacon | October 23, 2009 3:57 PM

Todd P is loved far more widely than he is ever hated.

and that's how it should be.

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 4:05 PM

can't we all just get along???? i mean we all like music and backpacks right? peace

Posted by phish fan | October 23, 2009 4:09 PM

backpack guy needs to give it a rest. it wasn't funny the first couple times either.

backpacks and glasses? I thought out-of-touch dweebs thought every "hipster" in "the scene" had beards. what changed?

can't wait to read your brilliant zinger about "the midwest"

Todd P does good things, is a sweet guy, has lots of loving girlfriends, good taste, smarts, etc... whereas you dudes surf the internet and bitch without a clue. eat a dick, looooosahhhhsssss!

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 4:18 PM

i love sweet guys with tons of girlfriends

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 4:24 PM

Todd P never surfs the net, he only surfs them bitches with his skinflute

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 4:28 PM

Hey 4:18,

Todd P's good deeds, sweetness, 'loving girlfriends' (shivers) and smarts are kind of irrelevant.

Would love to read a persuasive argument for Todd P's supposed curatorial brilliance and ear for new genius that doesn't reference his many other apparently lovely qualities though.

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 4:34 PM

can i get more arrogance in the monitor?

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 6:38 PM

Todd built something out of nothing.

Posted by pugatch | October 23, 2009 7:54 PM

the guy who organises the shows always gets the most shittalk in any scene, and so it is in Brooklyn.

it's impossible to make correct decisions, do good work, and NOT be hated by some minority of the scene.

as for personal life snipes... taking swipes at people you don't know re: romantic life is never a good look for the finger pointer. like any shittalking, it usually is all about jealousy and envy.

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 8:27 PM

I doubt there are 15 bookably good bands in Brooklyn at any one time.

Posted by Anonymous | October 23, 2009 8:36 PM

Todd P really is a good guy. He puts on good, cheap, all ages shows, and he really does care about the people who go to them.
People saying otherwise clearly have never had a real conversation with him. It would be easy to think that he was a douche otherwise, he takes his work seriously, but if you approach him for conversation he is one of the most genuine people in the current new york scene.

Posted by Anonymous | October 24, 2009 2:53 PM
