""Saturday Night Live" grappled with real life--President Obama's surprise win of the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday--as cast member Fred Armisen played the president as the luckiest man in the world--who is not George Bush.Regina Spektor was the musical guest on Saturday. Her Radio City Music Hall show is this Wednesday. Videos of Regina (before, during and after SNL), Fred-as-Obama, and more, below...Armisen as Obama: "This came without warning, I didn't even get a call as due to the time difference in Norway, the Nobel people didn't want to wake me up. I wish they had, I could have said to Hillary Clinton, 'Hey, remember that 3 a.m. call you were so worried about? It happened. Nobel Peace Prize." [Sun Times]

What the fuck is this? none of these videos are funny. And what is with the shameless NBC/Regina plug? You people running the program for this fake blog really suck at what you do.

SNL hired a conservative writer despite his or her being clearly talentless and unqualified. I can't wait for their skit where they slam affirmative action.
That'd be almost as hypocrtical as whining that Obama hasn't single-handedly reversed military policy while mocking him for not "limiting executive power." They need to hire a writer who's read the constitution and maybe a newspaper or two.

Kristen Wiig had a skit where she does a character called Gilly. It was so unfunny, it made me angry.

^---- yes. Gilly was so bad, it sort of made me uncomfortable watching it. Like I was watching someone that I wanted to do well make a complete fool of themselves.
I thought that once again this week, the Obama sketch at the beginning was the only funny part of the entire show. I feel like the writers could be playing a practical joke on us when I think about the quality of the rest of the sketches. It's really unbelievable how bad it is.
As far as poking fun at Obama- I'm all for it. Maybe it will contribute to him picking up the pace and actually getting something done for a change.

On the other hand though... when you think about the people who appreciate tearing apart Obama, maybe SNL sketches are funny to them. Maybe SNL is for the wingnuts. I guess I could see some of that stuff being funny to crackers.
