isn't that uncomfortable to know that you're being photographed for looking pretty geeky

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 4:03 PM

dude behind the girls

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 4:04 PM

these girls look straight out of Carrie circa 1976.

I'd give the dark haired girl the old "in out in out".

Hmmm... turn around for a second, honey

anon 6:06. you should probably be more specific about the picture you're going by. or, you have really bad taste.

Posted by jan janson | October 20, 2009 6:14 PM

Is the bassist that guy from Heroes?

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 6:54 PM

Wow, you're mean. Easy to be on the internet. And I'm sure you're all EXTREMELY good-looking. But, hey, at least you know making fun of people you don't know who are clearly happy doing what they're doing when it doesn't affect you at ALL makes you super cool. And doable. No, really, it does. Have a good day at middle school.

Posted by anonymous | October 20, 2009 6:55 PM

being mean to people you don't know over the internet is clearly way cooler than wearing a shirt you happen to like that ties you to people you love... jerks.

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 7:14 PM

They're not mean, they're just morons. They don't understand the concept of mean. There is only their own perverse pleasure, ideally at someone else's expense, all done from the security of their parent's basement. They don't understand community, either, or friendship, or love. Just selfish bastards.

Middle school? Too advanced.

"team avetts = columbia records employees"? Who the hell are you to say that? Do you have any idea of where they started, or why they do what they do? No, of course not, you're just a moron.

Hope you grow up one day.

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 7:26 PM

I'm really embarrassed by this. seriously. you girls are beautiful and it looks like you're having a really great time and these pigs can go to hell.

Wow, Brooklyn Vegan is the smartest man alive.

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 8:42 PM

before making such awful comments, do you guys realize that the people in the photos are real? just like you? and they read these comments? i can say this for sure, because i am one of them. i do not appreciate this.

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 9:57 PM

Good on all of you to disparage people you know nothing about for doing something they love and that people love them for. Keep it classy, folks.

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 10:37 PM

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 10:59 PM

Don't even dignify the comments with a response, ladies. Hope you enjoyed the show!

Posted by Anonymous | October 20, 2009 11:33 PM

i've been reading bv almost every day for 3 years and have never had the urge to comment before.

but all girls (especially those) are the shit.

anyone who played a part wouldn't turn around and hate it.

Posted by mookie | October 21, 2009 12:52 AM

team avett-

i know ur not trying to act like one of you is not giving fugly a bad name cause the proof is in the picture. So pls just go back to ur team avett group page and cry there.

p.s. team jacob also sux

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 2:26 AM

p.p.s. i did some googling-

from avettnation, the propaganda division for the avett bros

Post on message boards that you are already involved with rather than joining a bunch of new boards just to post about the new album. This is commonly known in message board circuits as spamming and doing so hurts promotions more than helps. If you want to join new music related boards, great! Just be sure to be active on them for a few weeks before you start promoting. Also, ignore all rude and negative comments – you are there to promote the band, not argue with immature posters.

This team crap is as authentic as those Tea Party Protests.

How small is your ---- that you need to go onto an internet "comments" thread and talk shit about peoples looks?

These ladies are lovely, and yeah they love the band. I know them they are GREAT people.

Are you jealous that they had fun?
And that probably no one likes you in real life?

(or on the internet?)

LOSER city.

p.s. this is the first time I've ever commented under an article on the internet, that's how much of a loser you are.. I just had to say something.

Posted by Buffalo Bill | October 21, 2009 10:31 AM

No wonder you idiots who are calling these women ugly are so upset. It''s...people having fun without being ironic or sarcastic! They're genuinely enjoying music without being told that they should! They're actually connecting with each other and showing kindness and community! Oh no!

I know this is a gigantic threat to you hipsters, but go back to what you know best: tight purple pants and white wayfarers, dressing like you don't live off of dad's trust fund and impressing each other with your detatched coolness. Leave these good people alone.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 10:50 AM

To be honest, it's not the internet. Every time you see a guy this is what he's thinking about you...yes or no, or in this case, helllll nooooo. Hipster or banker, construction worker or blogger. You are getting sized up, that's it.

I also find it IRONIC that you whine about how you're being insulted then respond in the same manner. I'm real too. :(

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 11:56 AM

Oh my mistake. Your comments are justified, because you're a misogynistic idiot, not a hipster idiot. Sorry, I get it now.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 12:16 PM

Such moronic comments. Obviously the girls are having a good time, and BEING THEMSELVES, rather than acting like total posers. This is how people SHOULD act, and seldom do.

I don't think they were posing for this picture in order to be rated. Is this site called "Are you hot or not?" Nope..didn't think so.

Grow the hell up.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 3:21 PM

@2:42, you did some research, but you're still way off base. You went to, which has absolutely nothing to do with Team Avett. Team Avett was started by fans, the shirts are made by fans, no money is made on them, and Columbia is never going to get their hands on it. The reason it exists is because a bunch of people love a band. That's it. Hard to believe with all the commercial promotions and staged "spontaneous" demonstrations (and I'm with you on the tea parties), but true.

And 11:56 am, we are defending people from completely unwarranted juvenile attacks, you know, like yours. You decide to reveal yourself as scum on a public forum, expect someone to point out your scumminess.

And to all the original douchebags, fuck you.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 4:47 PM

these women are more beautiful than you'll ever be, scums! :)

Posted by Kim | October 21, 2009 6:36 PM

You girls (and you fugly sympathizers as well) are gluttons for punishment. OMG!!! a bunch of guys judged us on our looks. What the hell where you expecting? this has something to do with us being gorillas years ago, either way get over it.

Together you wore the same shirts and you posed for a professional photographer cause you thought you looked cute (and probably to support the band as well) and when someone tells you you don't, you're surprised?

You googled Avett Bros terminal 5 and found BV and got a shock when you didn't get the response you were hoping for. Can you drop this and move on. I didn't start this but I would like it to end.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 7:56 PM

your stupidity is offensive. do you assume that a photographer was roaming around and asking people if they wanted their photo taken? if he is a professional as you suggest, i'm pretty sure that he takes photos of whatever the hell he pleases. and "response you were hoping for"? as someone noted, this is not "hot or not". get your head out of your ass and go write uninteresting insults on youtube videos.

and use spellcheck while you're at it, moron.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 9:21 PM

Team Avett is a group of at least 120 people across the country who have met at shows, together as part of a wonderful community surrounded by beautiful music. You may not have noticed, but there were at least 7 OTHER people at the Terminal 5 that night representing Team Avett and taking part in something that they love. No one was looking for attention, especially not that of pathetic anonymous internet personalities.

But ain't it like most people, I'm no different--we love to talk on things we don't know about.

Posted by Anonymous | October 21, 2009 9:30 PM

To Kim,

These ladies did not pose for a professional photographer. Hell, they are friends with professional photographers. They waited out in the cold to get in for a show, of a band that they admire. They were minding their own business, not posing for a spread in Playboy.

They are beautiful on the inside and out. But someone shallow would not recognize their kind of pure and honest beauty.

I am proud of them, and proud to be related to one of them. She is beautiful in every way..unlike the haters on this site.

Grow the hell up!

…My date was sharing a room with another girl, and we saw each other only later. At this point I felt obliged to put my arm around her. One of the indelible memories I retain of that weekend was a glimpse I caught of us in the mirror in this position, lounging in the doorway of the kitchen, this external view of the tall man and the extremely short woman standing as a couple, the contrast striking between what the mirror showed and what was going on inside me.

I'm sure she didn't have a clue what I was thinking, which suggests that she herself had something to learn about relationships and the way human beings couple. The sex advice columnist Dan Savage holds that “everybody wants to fuck up,” by which he means, go to bed with someone more attractive than they themselves are. This is a bit bald, and I believe colored by the fact that Savage is a gay man, but the principle remains worth pondering. Did she see nothing strange in our being a couple? Wasn't she wondering what I was thinking?

The sympathetic reader — probably male — will ask, in horror, how did you ever get through the weekend? I don't remember. Perhaps I made up an excuse to leave early the next day, perhaps it was only a commitment of one night. I don't have the sense of having invented elaborate excuses, because of the boon of a single room in a houseful of guests, I simply excused myself and went to bed, hoping she would assume of course I had never had illusions of bedding her that weekend, though of course I did. I assume I thanked my hostess effusively, gave my date a kiss, and hit the road. I assume too my manners were working sufficiently to send a thank-you note to my hostess, and e-mail to Sarah saying what a blast it had been. By then I had stopped the flirting, replacing it by what I hoped was unnoticeably bright friendship words rather than sexual ones…

if a girl is ugly you shouldn't blame brooklyn vegan commenters for it. you should blame god.

end of conversation. brooklyn vegan, please lock up this thread.

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 12:30 AM

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 8:00 AM

mighty douchebag is right. he thinks he can have the last word on this topic.

seriously, what is the matter with you people? let's ignore for a moment that ugly is subjective, and focus instead on the fact that you insist on judging people who are minding their own business. do you all troll the internet all day, looking for female images that you find unattractive? on shopping sites, medical journals, food blogs? just because someone's face is posted, you feel like you can make grand sweeping statements about attractiveness and its place in male/female relations?

nobody signed up for your newsletter, douchebags.

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 9:07 AM

@11:56 just because someone is sizing women up and thinks someone is hot/ugly/whatever doesn't mean they are saying it out loud to their faces. but yet on the internet, they feel free to judge people. it's wimpy and it's mean. and how is it ironic that anyone would be offended at being called ugly and would speak up about it? I'm sorry, did I hurt your feelings? I should apologize for defending myself to "anonymous @11:56"? hardly.

@7:56 we didn't pose and try to look cute and ask for our picture to be taken. we were at a show, excited to see our favorite band (shirts worn "probably" to support the band? yes, to support the band. duh), and the photographer from BV noticed us right behind him and asked to take our picture. so we put our arms around each other and smiled. we were happy and excited. there was no further motivation than that. And sure, I did come here to see pictures of the band and thought there was a small chance they'd use the photo of us. You clearly don't know us or how we think (or what response I was "hoping for.") I can assure you the goal wasn't to come on line and see what strangers think of our looks. but I guess we could've expected it. shame.

well, at least the band looks good. anyone want to comment about them and their performance? they do make up the majority of these pictures. They rocked, didn't they??

oh, and ps, I am not employed by Columbia. I have had this shirt since before existed. No one needs to pay me to promote this band.

Rigor mortis has officially set in on this poor, dead horse.

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 3:07 PM

hey 2:45 which one are you?

cause if you are one of the middle two from the team, I'd prolly hit it. fyi.

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 3:29 PM

Are you to assess what I've been, what I am, I've become?
Did you stop to accept how pathetically dumb it can be to attack those around 'cause you're true to color, a town, a time, or a place?
I don't want to fight. I just ask let me be. I won't give the chance to be my enemy. So go home think it through.

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 4:12 PM

I really don't think this thread can be complete w/o this:

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 4:28 PM

I'm gonna apologize for not having the class(in this instance) to practice some proper decorum and for not following the old adage "If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all". But the fact that you (Team Avett) keep coming back to this post says more about you than it does me. You say you aren't looking for attention but yet you come back here to see what is said about you.

If the statements are misogynistic and moronic why even bother replying ......I know why. Because you all are part of this crappy band cult.. I've seen your video and i finally took a listen to this band you love so. And let me tell you they SUCK. No lie. I don't know who the f told you they were good. The radio?? your cousin?? but whoever did damaged you all. Here's a tip: Band of Horses...or at the very least Fleet Foxes, i don't like them really but seriously ladies you are wasting your life with this band.

And finally: I really wished you guys would of just ignored my and others' stupidity because this post is now 5th when you search for Team Avett. And the reason i can only guess is because you couldn't just stfu. And for that I hope this becomes the first thing that pops up.

To whoever put up that Bruce Fleming excerpt...classic and epic...I'm ordering it from amazon tonight.

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 10:14 PM

personally i think it is wrong to make fun of people for how they look. its lame to do that. I dont even think anyone in the picture is 'ugly'.

however, all of you wearing team avett shirts makes you dorks. i encourage all bv commenters to acknowledge your dorkiness. If it were music deserving of such rampant dorkiness, well maybe we could let it go. However, avett brothers sucking clearly does not help your cause.

by the way, since they may be the first time you came across brooklyn vegan, please be aware that 90 percent of the posts consists of people saying nasty things to each other. This is dangerous internet territory, this it's not for the weak at heart.

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2009 10:29 PM

believe me, we're well aware of our dorkiness. but just as ugliness is a matter of perception, so is music. we happen to be deeply affected by the avett brothers. that is all. we share the love we have for them with others, and that accounts for our dorkiness. rip on us all you want for that...i'm genuinely not insulted by your opinion of them. i know why i love them, i don't expect anyone else to.

and the fact that we continue to contribute to this thread does not mean we are seeking means we are *so* not used to this level of negativity aimed at us, that we just can't help but read it and respond. i'm quite dumbfounded at it, actually.

and oh yes, we do everything both the radio (they get very little airplay, dumbass) and our cousins tell us. and i don't give a damn if this does come up first on a search...then others will see just how hateful and awful small-minded people can be.

i love idea that beauty and musical taste is subjective. You can't subjectively be the president and just because your other avett friends think you're cute because they want to earn points for their humming bird badges (check the avett forum) doesn't make it true.

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." E. Roosevelt

you girls are sick in the head....quoting the avett brothers??? It's like you haven't faced reality (or the internet) until you hit this post. It may do you some good to not surround yourself all the time with like-minded people and get differing and maybe truthful opinions once in a while.

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2009 4:28 PM

Riiiiight, because I'm sure that the people here who are calling strangers ugly and talking about how utterly unfuckable they are surround themselves with a diverse, eclectic group of people who invite stimulating conversation and varied discourse.

Get over yourself.

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2009 4:44 PM

i just don't understand why people who hate the avett brothers music(i.e. the horrid jonas brothers comparison) and their fans would care to continue to post on this website. move on. go see a show.

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2009 5:58 PM

I don't hate the avett brothers, or the jonas brothers for that matter, I simply think they are both mildly talented bands whose popularity is more due to sex appeal.

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2009 10:27 PM

Go see a real band not a bunch of guys who wouldn't look at you twice if you didn't come to their show 5 hours early and stood upfront. Even those guys have taste.

Posted by avett=love | October 27, 2009 4:37 AM

You people suck. There's nothing wrong with those girls.

Posted by Anonymous | October 28, 2009 10:05 PM

judging by the group "team avett" shirts and their grotesque taste in music, it is pretty obvious these girls have very low self esteem and there is nothing uglier than that.

Posted by Anonymous | October 28, 2009 11:07 PM

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I love an analysis of a person's self-esteem that is 1) unsolicited; 2) based on zero facts; and 3) offered anonymously over the internet.
