ALL back together again for an East Coast tour (dates)
by Klaus Kinski

As a youngster, my punk rock friend Bob was constantly trying to get me to listen to more than just metal. He succeeded in getting me into groups like Pegboy, Black Flag, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Samhain, The Misfits, Public Image Ltd. and the like. But two acts that really appealed to me at the time and ended up being the soundtrack to the summer of 1992 were The Descendents and ALL.
In all my 32 years on earth there have been many opportunities, yet I have yet to see either band live. Luckily that's (sort of) going to change when ALL invades the east coast, for the first time since 2002 (the first time since 1988 with Scott Reynolds), with a four show mini-tour that will bring them to Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday, January 9, 2010 (tickets onsale 11/18 at noon). ALL. On a Saturday night. Practically in my own back yard. YES.
For those of you who have been living in a cave, ALL evolved from The Descendents, a band who once claimed they couldn't sell out a telephone booth but whose impact on rock is undeniable. The Descendents created ALL, a concept celebrating the satisfaction that comes from one's highest achievement, eventually naming their new band in tribute to their own personal ideology. The line-up will consist of Scott Reynolds on vocals, Bill Stevenson on drums, Karl Alvarez, on bass, and Stephen Egerton on Guitar. Off With Their Heads and Shot Baker open all shows. The tour dates are below...
All - 2009 Tour Dates *
JANUARY 6 - CAMBRIDGE, MA - THE MIDDLE EAST (downstairs)
JANUARY 7 - PHILADELPHIA, PA - FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCH
JANUARY 8- BALTIMORE, MD - THE OTTOBAR
JANUARY 9 - BROOKLYN, NY - MUSIC HALL OF WILLIAMSBURG
* all dates w/ Off With Their Heads and Shot Baker

hey 11:46 and 12:49, there's a lot of shitty films being remade but that doesn't mean cinemas should be forbidden to show them. you don't like it, don't go.
regardless of you might think, you are not the arbiter of taste.

Has anyone ever seen All or The Descendents live? How are they?
Posted by Anonymous | November 12, 2009 1:51 PM
It's not quite the same, but I saw Karl and Bill breathe life into Evan Dando when they were 2/3rds of the Lemonheads.

11:45 is this true? Milo will be there?! He is my personal hero: a PhD in Biochemistry and fronting one of my favorite bands of all time.

Descendents live are awesome. Never saw ALL. but I don't like All. it was a little proggy at times.
but I do like "NO, ALL!"

Milo will be playing 3 or 4 songs in NYC and Philly - this from their publicist.
Yup, ALL have a publicist.

It's pretty awesome that they're playing at MHOW. They strike me as the type of band that would wind up getting booked at Irving Plaza

"there's a lot of shitty films being remade but that doesn't mean cinemas should be forbidden to show them. you don't like it, don't go.

actually, a film being remade would be more like a cover band than a reunion tour.
Posted by Anonymous | November 12, 2009 5:03 PM
not all reunion tours feature the original members.

"actually, a film being remade would be more like a cover band than a reunion tour."
yes. i think the movie equivalent of a reunion tour would be an updated release with special never before seen scenes. like when they re-released star wars.
or maybe it'd be like making an unnecessary sequel to a classic long after the fact, ruining the legend of the original. like when they made the star wars prequels.
yeah, band reunions are like star wars prequels.

5:19 wins with the star wars simile

11:32 Except "Long Distance" is a Chad song, so they might not play it.
I saw The Descendents when the reunited and played Roseland, as well as ALL the last time they played CBGB, and both shows were fantastic.

I named my clothing label after one of their songs. Ahhh the past.

All never really stopped playing together as far as it seems. Descendents liveage is a kick ass live album recorded at First Ave.

Saw them at Northsix a few years back. They put on a great show.

Scott was in ALL until '93 (not '88, as it says above; that's the one year Dave Smalley sang for them) and I saw them in the summer of '92 at City Gardens. Every other time I saw ALL, it was with Chad, though I did see that amazing Descendents reunion show in '93 with Milo. Anyhow, I can't wait for this!
