Mos Def / Sleigh Bells
Knyf Hyts and Javelin with Mos Def
Sleigh Bells

first show at new tribeca venue "under 100," which is co-owned by greg finch of p4k tv, and is in damon dash's office basement. was a crazy night. dash's entourage rolled through in full effect, loved sleigh bells and javelin, two rappers (stally and curren$y) spit over javelin songs during an unexpected encore by popular demand. later in the evening, everyone went upstairs to watch javelin's set in dash's office and rumor was that both parties wanted to further jam. next thing you know, everyone's downstairs in the venue again and mos def et al are jamming with javelin and knyfe hyts! was a special night. - erez avissar
After the show I thought I heard that Mos Def played with Sleigh Bells (who are now also famous for M.I.A. and Spike Jonze reportedly coming to one of their shows) (though someone told me they think the M.I.A. part was a rumor started after a case of mistaken identity). I must have jumped to conclusions though because Mos Def actually only jammed with the other two bands at the Friday night show (11/20). Amazing weekend for guest appearances in NYC (the Roots and David Byrne played with Dirty Projectors at Bowery Ballroom). More pictures from Under 100 below...

One of the best shows I've been to since I moved to New York. Hope there are more upcoming shows at that space. Didn't really love Sleigh Bells as much as everyone else seemed to.

Why does everyone look so bored during 'sleigh bells' set? OHHHHH....maybe it's the fact that 80% of the music is coming out of an i-pod. you snooze you lost

FYI: Both Spike Jonze and M.I.A. have attended multiple sleigh bells shows. I met and talked to her, she was super sweet!

meh.

it was more 'scene cool' than actually cool, or a great show. i'd rather go somewhere that has decent sound (the sound for sleigh bells set was shit) or at the very least isn't selling PBR for fucking $4 than have damon dash smoke a joint next to me - as cool as that may be. also, why in the world did knyfe hyts 81 play this show? it was such an awkward break between javelin and SBs, and almost everyone left the room.

i will say, though, its cool as fuck that damon dash likes to bump to javelin, too.

This was not brought to you by greg finch, but by ariel panero of Less Artists More Condos. I'd say the space is safe from cops and has the potential for many cool shows in the future and thats that

I try not to make comments like this usually but wow, she is sexy.

I caught Sleigh Bells at Market Hotel during CMJ. It speaks volumes that the best things people can say about this band is that "Famous person X and Y has attended their shows" or that the singer is sexy. Why not say something positive about the actual music? Because it's absolute shit. They won't be playing terminal 5 next year, they will be forgotten because they are incredibly boring.

I am based in Doha Qatar and eagerly trying to contact Mr. Damon Dash. I am the owner of the Hip Hop Shop based in Doha Qatar which is near Dubai, and in the Gulf States. I am a Black American from Detroit Michigan and living in the region for over 14 years. I have something that will inhance Mr. Dashes ambitions and increase my ambitions and fufill the dream of a culture gaining finacial power in the Arab/African regions
