Kasabi who?

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 4:31 PM

lol @ u2, arctic monkeys, and lily allen in the top 10. LOL.

Posted by ihatehipsterscum | November 27, 2009 4:54 PM

That is literally the worst list I ever saw. Bruce's album was the worst of his career, Kasabian suck donkey balls, It's Blitz was just barely decent, Muse are a joke of a band, Green Day was just alright 15 years ago, if Jack White wasn't in the Dead Weather and it was just some other schmuck that band's ratings would be horrible, and u2 is the corniest band on the face of the planet.

Posted by Ian Porterfield | November 27, 2009 5:24 PM

Web 2.0 has made the top (whatever) list of the (year, decade, etc.) a total cliche. Lists are like assholes: everybody's got one. So who cares anymore?

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 5:36 PM

Kasabian (ooooooh, so cool, naming yourself after a Charlie Manson family member) are a laughably shit band, truly terrible. The fact that they could be chosen number one at anything except being shit says it all.

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 5:41 PM

Weren't the Arctic Monkeys supposed to be the Rolling Stones, The Who and The Clash all rolled up into one a few years back? Now they can't even beat out the execrable Kasabian (proof that there is something wrong with Brits) and a bunch of other Britcrap. HA HA HA!

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 5:49 PM

Arctic Monkeys are the next Pixies

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 5:56 PM

I own precisely two of these Q picks: The Horrors, which was a legit great album, and The Manics, the lyrics of which were written by Richey Edwards, who died 10 years ago, and seemed to inspire the band to revisit The Holy Bible-era in tone. The rest is a giant MEH.

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 5:57 PM

This is a GREAT LIST ! ! ! I own all of these!

Q Rules.

I think BV said he might be locked in a basement with tight black jeans and green sunglasses with nothing to eat except for plain tofu.
Oh well the guys a maniac on the flute.

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 6:35 PM

I love how Americans write off Kasabian so quickly. Do you even listen to their full albums? Out of the songs played on the radio in the US (Club Foot, L.S.F., Empire and Shoot The Runner), all those songs are tops so not sure why there is hate. Awesome front man and cool guitarist.

Guess what, they have even better tunes but you will all have to discover them on your own ( Processed Beats, Fire, Fast Fuse).

Q got this #1 album of the year correct.

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 6:47 PM

MEHsabian

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 6:55 PM

Black Heart Procession - 6 -- best album of the year easily.

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 6:57 PM

Neko Case didn't make the top fifty?!

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 7:25 PM

What a shitty list. Is this what the year is really reduced to?

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 7:45 PM

@ 5:36

oh yea? so where's your list?

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 8:15 PM

@8:15 -- I JUST DID AN AWESOME FART, TOO BAD YOU MISSED IT. IT SUMMED UP THE DECADE NICELY.

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 9:15 PM

Didn't TWENT WEZNOR's CD win a prize?

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 9:16 PM

I actually listened to Iggy's *Preliminaires* a lot. Far better than that awful Stooges thingy from last year (sorry Ron, RIP). Iggy is a good crooner. He should do an album of Sinatra covers.

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 9:19 PM

I will personally pwotest if TWENT does not win something. TWENT deserves a pwize for being TWENY WEZNOR!

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 9:22 PM

How did Handsome Pheasants not make this list? They're huge in the UK!

Posted by Rocky Napoli | November 27, 2009 10:13 PM

While my list would be different, there is a lot of good stuff on this one. Haters here are bunch of bitter, talentless losers.

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 11:18 PM

hum MEH us

Posted by baba ganoush | November 27, 2009 11:28 PM

"Arctic Monkeys are the next Pixies"

i fucking hope you are joking.

Posted by Anonymous | November 27, 2009 11:59 PM

SEWN TOGETHER by the awesome MEAT PUPPETS was FAR better than 90% of this shit. Ditto Steve Earle's TOWNES (a tribute to Townes Van Zandt).
The debut by the CROCODILES, the new one from A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS, and on and on and on....

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 12:06 AM

Frank Black's tribute album to Herman Brood was way cooler than anything the Arctic Airheads will ever do.

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 12:16 AM

no offense to the people above on the cover but did any black people (or any non-white people) do ANYTHING of note in music in the past century? christ on a crisp!

Posted by Camille | November 28, 2009 12:27 AM

.....?

Wavves?

Q seemed to have missed

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 1:16 AM

Serious people. zero humps coming from here. Like laying on my back not moving asleep after a long bike ride styles. No humping to speak of.

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 2:28 AM

Agreed. The Black Heart Procession's "Six" is easily the best record out this year, so far. And they're amazing live.

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 2:42 AM

who the FUCK is biffy clyro?

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 7:28 AM

I love me some Jarvis Cocker, but I think the record he released this year is not really that great. I blame that on the Steve Albini production. It rocks but it's bordering on the novelty. In fact his better outputs were placed on the b-sides of the two singles he released. Rather puzzling and silly move. However, even at his worst, his record is still better than the albums of Mika, Green Day, Dizzee Rascal, Cheryl Cole, Paolo Nuttini, Jamie T, the Horrors.
Same goes for the Boss, I love him but his latest is underwhelming. That's because he showed up at Glasto doesn't mean he is British.
This is a British mag, I suppose, so why is xx not in there?
C'mon Muse's The Resistance (aka Queen with Thom Yorke as vocalist)is not better than Dirty Projectors.
And Kasabian, oh dear, Kasabian. I will not even place their album on the top 100.

Posted by joe | November 28, 2009 7:35 AM

The Meh guy is better than Kasabian.

Posted by anonymous | November 28, 2009 8:25 AM

When making these lists do people actually realize that these lists are supposed to "stand the test of time"? Next year we may never hear of Florence and The Machine again! HOPEFULLY :)

Posted by TXn | November 28, 2009 10:41 AM

@2:42 - Black Heart Procession - Six - I also agree. It is a masterpiece, both musically and lyrically, comparable to something like Lou Reed's Berlin album. It makes dumbass party music like Kasabian seem laughable.

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 11:01 AM

everyone of these bands fucking blows. bunch of obnoxious indie hipster music. fuck q magazine.

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 11:44 AM

Q is a British magazine, so of course they have albums from Kasabian, Jamie T, the View, the Prodigy, and Dizzee Rascal... solid list imo

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 12:25 PM

yea... well... good thing i dont get my music advice from magazines....

Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2009 4:33 PM

right on, Venkman

Posted by Anonymous | November 29, 2009 11:03 AM

hey, i would toss nekos salad anyday!

Posted by Anonymous | November 29, 2009 11:52 AM

Good list. Can't say I agree with Kasabian but whatever. Contrary to northwest Brooklyn law, popular bands can also be good.

Posted by Anonymous | November 30, 2009 6:44 AM

Damn straight Rocky!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 30, 2009 11:30 AM

YYYs number 3?! I wipe my ass with that piece of shit of a record.

Posted by Anonymous | November 30, 2009 11:46 AM

Handsome Pheasants are severely underrated. One of the best bands out there right now.

Posted by Anonymous | November 30, 2009 3:05 PM

All I know is "The Resistance" is the WORST album MUSE put out this decade. These "top whatever" lists get worse every time I read one.

Posted by Funderburgh | November 30, 2009 3:16 PM

Wow ... whatever happened to Franz Ferdinand? Why does Q magazine hate them so much these days?

Posted by Jeannie | November 30, 2009 10:31 PM

Manics made a great record. Do not forget it. Nicky Wire is delicious.

Posted by Anonymous | December 1, 2009 11:21 AM

where is The Cribs? Dinosaur, Jr? XX?

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2009 10:18 AM

and Camera Obscura?

Posted by Anonymous | December 6, 2009 10:20 AM

who gives a fuck about Q magazine? this is the lamest list of all time. kasabian? what is that shit?

hilarious.

Posted by chris g | December 8, 2009 3:35 AM

Yeah, bloody Kasabian, getting to number one and selling out Arena's, how dare they have a great album voted number 1 ;)

Posted by Anonymous | December 14, 2009 4:07 PM

Kasabian are the worst band on the planet. Fact.

Posted by Sally | December 14, 2009 8:18 PM
