The Dead Weather @ Home Sweet Home in July (more by Ryan Muir)
Dead Weather

The Dead Weather will be performing at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Tuesday, November 17th. The show, happening one day before the group plays the mtvU Woodie Awards at Roseland Ballrom, is currently the only gig on their schedule. Tickets for the show will go on presale for subscribers of The Vault, the online club run by Third Man Records, starting Tuesday, November 10th at noon. General sale starts Friday, November 13th at noon. There will be a two ticket limit, will call only.

At the mtvU Woodie Awards, at Roseland Ballroom on November 18th, the band will perform their Woodie-nominated video song, "Treat Me Like Your Mother." That's posted below. teagan and sara rollover ad ruining my bv experience

Posted by : | | November 9, 2009 3:20 PM

are these guys any good? thanks.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 3:27 PM

@ 3:20

Seconded! That thing is fucking killing me.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 3:27 PM

@ 3:20

Thirded. BV, ads are dandy, but those rollovers are the worst.

Also, listened to that Teagan and Sara song, and it was garbage. They ought to push that shit over on Rolling Stone, that's where their market lives. Avril Lavigne x2

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 3:32 PM

Fourth(ed?) about the rollover.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 3:35 PM

lame-aroids

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 3:37 PM

I didn't know it was possible for me to hate Tegan and Sara more than I already did.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 3:38 PM

well the dead weather presale is on ticketmaster, so it's clearly just a presale password.

What's the presale password?

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 3:40 PM

the password is WESUCK

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 4:03 PM

seriously... what is it?

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 4:06 PM

it's WSAREBETTER

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 4:25 PM

@ 3.27- yes, they're pretty damn good

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 4:25 PM

I thought the bowery show was an absolute joke. The music is awful and they try to create this weird pseudo-darkly-sexual southern scum-gothy blues vibe. It seemed so deliberate, choreographed, scripted and poorly acted. Style over substance at it's worst.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 4:36 PM

I likes me some Mosshart.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 4:38 PM

so wtf is the password?

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 4:46 PM

4:36, thank you! This is, imo, a great example of the hype machine running this shit into the ground just because Jack White is on board. Trust me, I LOVE me some Jack White, but this is bland and tepid, at best. It's one thing to be blindly (deafly?) devoted to something, but it's something altogether different to be a fan able to discern when you're being duped and spoon-fed some contrived, trite, marketing blitz bullshit.

If we can't have the stripes, at least bring back the racs. This project sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 4:47 PM

such haters on BV- dead weather is good, regardless of who's in the band. saw them at bowery and t5. bowery show was very cool

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 4:59 PM

BV- you should change the name of this website to BH, Brooklyn Haters

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 5:11 PM

thanks 4:25

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 5:27 PM

i digged it thats what i thought

Posted by debt reduction | November 9, 2009 5:32 PM

I'll take The Dead Weather over The Raconteurs any day. DW is much sexier and far more dangerous than the overtly poppy Raconteurs.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 5:56 PM

This band is for you if you're looking for "overtly sexy" at the expense of quality.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 6:04 PM

this is the best band of 2009. don't miss them live. steal their album.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 6:15 PM

This video sucks. I'd rather see Matt & Kim win.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 7:57 PM

Password anyone?

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 10:14 PM

"Password anyone?"

I think the point is that the password is for people in the Third Man Records Vault--- and it requires a verification of your online username before the Ticketmaster purchase, etc.

Posted by Anonymous | November 9, 2009 10:38 PM

Teagan Presley >>>>> Tegan & Sara

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:44 AM

fuck yeah WCRD, go get em alma mater

Posted by monsoonseason | November 10, 2009 5:59 AM

I am definitely a fan of many of the nominees! Janelle Monae is my favorite!

pw: Glassjaw

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 10:32 AM

Sorry folks but it's your worst nightmare. The codes are individualized---finally thwarting the attempts of the vultures to cash in and leave fans out in the cold. I promise that I'll provide pictures for those who thought it was easy money.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 11:53 AM

got mine,, the pw was glassjaw

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:04 PM

Two tickets secured---now, who wants to be my +1?

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:04 PM

11:53, you're wrong. I got a presale code from a friend of mine who's a member of the vault. The code was posted as a blog post on the vault website, and the post was the same for everyone. I used his code to order tickets, and it worked perfectly.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:05 PM

12:05, your tickets will be cancelled once we check the vault member names against tickets purchased. We warned you guys about this.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:09 PM

12:09, are you serious? Do you actually work for third man or are you just screwing with me?

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:11 PM

it's CANCELED not CANCELLED, you're not in england.

Posted by anon | November 10, 2009 12:11 PM

Haaa. "We warned you!" Fuck the vault.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:12 PM

All ticket purchases will be checked against member names.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:17 PM

Well, I don't know whether those comments are legit or not, but I'm not taking a chance.

I'm calling ticketmaster now to cancel my order, and I'll try to get a ticket on friday.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:30 PM

@ 12:05 - the code was not just posted in a vault blog. a code generator was posted in the vault blog. i compared my code with the code a few others have had and all have been different. i wouldn't be surprised if people got their tickets rejected. this is probably the best way a presale has ever been done for fans.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:35 PM

got 2.. that was easy.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:35 PM

12:35 .... really? making a $7 a month "fanclub" with barely any content? Do you honestly feel you're getting your money's worth? And keep in mind, most of the content on the site is not-premium, it's available to everyone.

You're paying $7 a month to get one presale. With all the money you've paid them so far (I assume $42), you could just buy a scalped ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:39 PM

i doubt many do the 7 bucks a month thing. theres a more expensive option where you get exclusive records and goodies from white stripes, raconteurs and dead weather. with that subscription, you get access to the vault and presales as well. i would have to say that it is well worth it.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:43 PM

Ben Swank posted in the chatroom that there are way more premium than platinum. I think 1000 platinum and around 20,000 premium.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:50 PM

@12:39 - i'm in it for the records. i have the $20 per month platinum membership where i can get some rare records each quarter. the actual online content leaves something to be desired, but it is kind of neat to get to have chats with jack white and see live videos.

also, the benefit of the vault for me is actually being able to get tickets. i've tried getting tickets RIGHT at the sale time for sales and pre-sales many times and usually get shut out of the more intimate shows that go on in NYC. i'm glad to have been able to get tickets this time.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 12:59 PM

so did anyone with a code NOT get the tickets?

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 1:03 PM

i didn't get tickets. Glassjaw didn't work

what's the code?

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 1:51 PM

Ben Swank is a douche.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 1:53 PM

This band tries way to hard to be edgy. They're obsessed with their clothes. Jack White is talented but he surrounds himself with a bunch of yes men and Clingers.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 1:58 PM

1:51 - you can only get the code if you log into the vault. they are creating individual codes for each member, so if you aren't a vault member, you have to wait until friday when it goes on sale to the public.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 2:25 PM

awesome 1:51,, awesom!

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 2:26 PM

Glassjaw > the Dead Weather

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 2:35 PM

some people are so dense

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 2:43 PM

i tried using glassjaw for the passcode and didnt work...anyone?

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 2:47 PM

shit! glassjaw is not working

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 3:52 PM

oh. my. god.

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 4:09 PM

does anyone know how to read?

Posted by Anonymous | November 10, 2009 4:47 PM

Ok....be honest....how many people actually tried Glassjaw as a password?

Posted by Matt | November 10, 2009 6:07 PM

if tickets are sold out before they even go on public sale i will be the angriest man alive.

Posted by michael | November 10, 2009 6:48 PM

6:48... my order was section "GA7", seat 47. Does that mean that each "GA" was at least 50 tickets, and that I'm in the 7th set? If so, that means at least 350 tickets were sold. The capacity of the venue is only 550.

Knowing Jack White, I wouldn't be shocked if he allowed the Vault members to use the presale until everything's gone. Usually artists set aside 10-15% of tickets for a presale, and the presale actaully sells out. They might have set it up so that the presale will either go until all tickets are gone, or until Thursday at noon, at which point whatever's left will go to the regular sale.

Unless that GA section number and seat number have nothing to do with that... but I think they might.

Regardless, you're going to be trying to get a ticket in a 550-capacity venue, with thousands of people refreshing Ticketmaster. You better have a fast connection, and start practicing those Captcha's, because those 5 seconds are crucial :P

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2009 1:38 AM

glassjaw didnt work for me either. tried it like 3 times.

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2009 1:49 AM

550 capacity.....

Jack White will set aside at least 25 tixs for his friends, families, and etc

so I would expect less than 200 tixs to be sold on Friday....

Good luck!

P.S. Glassjaw rules :)

Posted by Anonymous | November 11, 2009 9:27 AM

fuck i'm at a fucking liberal arts college 2 hours from the city where the connection is terrible. i am honestly considering driving back home just to buy this tickets. i hate this so much. i saw them at t5 and it was one of the best concerts i've been to. t5 was the worst but being 5 feet from jack white and getting spit on by allison was the best.

Posted by michael | November 11, 2009 12:52 PM

sold out already.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 9:29 AM

Seriously, 9:29? Already sold out? Figures.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 11:42 AM

that's the worst thing.

they better make another show another night but fuck tuesday would have worked out perfect.. god damnit. this is the first time i'm legitimately really pissed off at jack.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 11:57 AM

i got tix

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 12:01 PM

why do they even go through the motions of offering these tickets to the public when they're sold out before they're even available? wtf.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 12:02 PM

ridiculous

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 12:05 PM

personally, it turned me on.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 12:37 PM

Unless their show is 1,000,000,000,000 times better than Bowery, consider yourselves lucky for not shelling out $30

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 12:37 PM

12:37, the Bowery show was their first public show. Yeah, it's Jack White so people paid a ton to get tickets (on stubhub and ebay), but of course their first show won't be the best.

I saw them at the Third Man Records store in NYC in July, then that night at T5. Both were totally different and awesome in their own way.

Now, I'll be seeing them in a more intimate setting (MHOW), and then the night after at the MTVu Woodie awards. That's a total of 4 times. There are not many bands I would see four times in one tour.

Also, I've seen three live webcasted shows. So, of the 5 that i've seen so far, they seem to get better as they go on. They get more comfortable with the songs, they improvise even more, and they must have around a dozen new songs that weren't on the album (b-sides, as well as unrecorded songs).

I'm definitely excited to see them at MHOW. Hopefully I can get front row.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 1:15 PM

tried getting tickets at 12 to no avail. anyone have an extra? this sucks

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2009 1:43 PM

1:15 is clearly psycho. For the WS maybe, this crap? Hell no.
