Passion Pit and the Clipse -- featuring Cam'ron and Rick Ross -- have just been confirmed to perform at the sixth-annual Woodies, joining already-announced acts Death Cab for Cutie, the Dead Weather and Matt & Kim. Breakout Woodie nominees Passion Pit will be performing their breakout single "The Reeling," while the Clipse will take on a pair of tracks, teaming with Cam on "Popular Demand (Popeye's)" and Ross for "I'm Good." Genre-blurring DJ/producer Diplo, who lately has been spending time as one half of Major Lazer, has also been announced as the house DJ for the night.

But all the onstage action won't just be of the performance variety. On Monday (November 16), the Woodies also announced a slate of big-name presenters, including Pete Wentz, Zooey Deschanel, 3OH!3, Mary-Louise Parker, David Cross, Janelle Monáe, and Woodie of the Year nominee Asher Roth.

The 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards will take place this Wednesday [tonight] at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. The show will then premiere Friday, December 4, at 10 p.m. ET on mtvU, MTV, MTV2 and Palladia.

Tickets to the Woodie Awards were mainly given out to college students. Last night (11/17), The Dead Weather played a pre-Woody show with Violent Soho at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. Less than a day earlier the news broke that Dead Weather drummer Jack White would be working with Wanda Jackson on her new album. More pictures and a video from the Brooklyn show, below...

looks like the touring has not been kind to mosshart

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 12:03 PM

Well, I don't know about look, but as performance goes the touring has been very kind to her, as she and the guys were brilliant yesterday.
For sure the best concert I went this year.

Posted by danny | November 18, 2009 12:16 PM

did u guys see jack knock mosshart into the crowd lat night? it was amazing... they were brawling on stage

Posted by nash | November 18, 2009 12:23 PM

Yeah, I was looking on youtube to see if anyone recorded. So good!

Posted by danny | November 18, 2009 12:32 PM

Does Anyone have the setlist from last night? There were a few tunes in the middle I didn't know. Great show by the way.

Posted by CountBlah | November 18, 2009 12:45 PM

that show was ridiculously awesome last night. say what you want but that fucking ruled.

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 12:52 PM

wait they were fighting each other...? again?

Posted by king | November 18, 2009 1:26 PM

What do you mean "again"?

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 1:55 PM

now THAT calls for some media!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 1:56 PM

Don't care if the stage antics are scripted. The music is raw power with some mean texture, it was the way Live Rock and Roll should be.

Posted by CountBlah | November 18, 2009 2:02 PM

CountBlah the new songs were No Horse, Jawbreaker, & I Can't Hear You( the encore song were they had that awesome fight). I Loved this show! I've been to all of their shows in NY including Bowery & this was the best out of all of them! I'm so Fucking proud of them!

Posted by Athurston | November 18, 2009 2:23 PM

how was this show compared to the bowery show?

granted, it was their first time playing (i could be wrong), but i was really disappointed at the bowery show.

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 3:04 PM

Thanks Athurston. I missed the Bowery show, but hit the all the others. Last night smoked, they are really worth catching live as I think their sound vastly improved since the album.

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 3:08 PM

ugh- so mad i didn't go... i saw them at bowery and at T5 and couldn't convince my husband to see them a 3rd time since they only have 1 album. but after seeing these pics and reading the posts, i'm really pissed at him/me right now

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 3:09 PM

couldn't you have went w/o your husband?

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 3:31 PM

3:31 must be single.

you should NEVER go out with your spouse.

3:09 here... @ 3:31- not true! i've been to tons of shows w/o him! i've even been to shows solo, just for the f*ck of it! but i was kind of feeling him, like, how many times can you see the same band in 1 year that only has 1 album out? but now i'm not feeling him, i'm more like, damn him!

looks like their making out.. oh i guess he is cheating on the white stripes AGAIN

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 6:53 PM

They were NOT fighting. Just pushing & pulling - and then she stumbled backwards and onto the floor. It's a great act and I'm sure they are both totally cool with it (and each other). BTW - this show was freakin' AMAZING...my head is still ringing ;)

Posted by EC Groom | November 18, 2009 7:22 PM

Those crazy rockers and their antics. Awesome dark uniforms with your stones esque blues derivative predictable rock. They should go live at the Viper room, but I see the sheep ate it up.

Wish Thee Headcoats who influenced the White Stripes got a little more recognition.

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 8:25 PM

is that a danzig tribute band?

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 8:39 PM

dead weather suck unbelievably, and jack white is terribly overrated

Posted by Anonymous | November 18, 2009 10:10 PM

best band of 2009.

Posted by i am right | November 18, 2009 10:31 PM

Seriously one of the absolute best shows of 2009. Oh Jack and Allison, how I love thee. Just wished they played another hour. These pics are pretty cool thanks BV. Violent Soho killed it too - ok now I'm digging them, I get it.

Posted by Sarah | November 18, 2009 11:30 PM

Allison is sexy as hell. Much Sexier then porker Meg with the the butter face. Good job Jack getting the sexier more talented back up.

Posted by Anonymous | November 19, 2009 12:47 AM

Yes this is a Danzig cover band. They even tried their best to get the uniforms color coordinated.

Wow this stuff is so unoriginal. Ever heard of Chrome Cranks kids??

Dead Weather even emanate the big rock star attitude of the bad 80's metal mainstream bands.
Thats why other music tried to avoid that shallow outlook.

Posted by Anonymous | November 19, 2009 4:29 AM

no one cares about the chrome crank kids, this is better. best show of the year and i've been to way too many shows this year

Posted by Anonymous | November 19, 2009 10:09 AM

For sure best show I saw this year...and I think hardly will have a better one until the end of the year...lets see if Pixies does the trick.
I like much better Doolitle than the DW's Horehound, but I really dont think they will do a better show than this one...if they will be a pretty historic one!

Posted by Anonymous | November 19, 2009 12:08 PM

I said the band Chrome Cranks. Dead Weather is nothing new. It wouldnt matter except for the fact that Jack has such a big head and this is so typical rock n roll fashion swagger too.

Posted by Anonymous | November 19, 2009 6:02 PM

jack's untouchable swagger > chrome kid's insignifigant existence. the minute you reach influential status is the same minute every predictable brooklyn hipster denied ever liking you. we've heard it all before. and it's old.

Posted by anonymous | November 19, 2009 9:07 PM

chrome crank*

Posted by anonymous | November 19, 2009 11:17 PM

@6:02 dead weather is nothing new? yet you praise chrome cranks in the same breath? chrome cranks are a shitty derivative of the gun club, and yet the only reason you draw any comparison between TDW & Chrome Cranks is because they also use b&w photography and a similar dark aesthetic? please don't be so transparent. That or you're in the chrome cranks and your cover is blown. Get a life.

Awesome, awesome show ! They sounded phenomenal. The minute DW hit the stage, it was like counting down the seconds to midnight on New Year's Eve....the crowd was so amped and in awe that they were there, witnessing this final NYC show. So happy to have seen it.

Posted by Worthablowneardrum | November 21, 2009 7:43 PM

I can't believe you guys sit (stand) through this crap. Music seems to be reaching new lows nightly.
