Titus Andronicus

Add another one to the growing New Year's Eve event list - Titus Andronicus are playing a 1:30am NYE show (technically New Years Day) at the Mercury Lounge. Tickets go on sale Friday, November 27th at noon.

The venue boldly announces "Mercury Lounge will stay open all night so don't let your evening end early!" Earlier in the night the Mercury Lounge will host The Detroit Cobras and The A-Bones.

Coming up, Titus play a pair of collegiate events - December 1st at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ and December 2nd at NYU's Kimmel Center (with the Beets). They open for Ted Leo in Massachusetts, but not for his NYC date at Bowery (opened by JEFF the Brotherhood and Stupid Party).

I booked Titus at my college twice last year, and they were absurdly awesome both times, both on and off the stage. They were the least demanding, most down to earth people I dealt with all year.

The second show they opened for a band (that shall go nameless) that made my life hell. The guys in Titus stood up for me and in general made my life way easier. I'd book them every night if I could.

"Is this place like the Terrace Club in Princeton - those elitist fucks would not let non-students into shows"

Has nothing to do with exclusivity, its just a security thing. terrace has gotten into trouble because of non-students before.

"Fuck this band....bunch of cheap hipsters. They played for me last year, nobody paid to see them and they gave me a 50 person guestlist. HA! Last time ill ever book them."

Okay, I know it is lame to comment on a post about my own band, but I heard about this prick running his mouth and I was loathe to ignore it.

If this is who I think it was, then he's talking about the show we played last New Year's Eve at Public Assembly. My research has reminded me that this was through some sort of organization called or event or something called MEANYFEST USA.

This show sucked not because of anything we did, but because nobody wants to pay $30 to watch us and Semi-Precious Weapons and some other band now lost to the sands of time. Thirty dollars, really? No shit we didn't go out of our way to promote this show - it wasn't worth it! To say nothing of the $70 "VIP" tickets.

Yeah, the show was a dud. Clearly, the promoters lost a lot of money. They saw this as a good reason to pay us less than a third of the money that we were promised, and used some petty nonsense about us playing some Weezer covers later that night at Death by Audio as an excuse. When we tried to get the rest of the money, he threatened to sue us! All because these dummies didn't know how to throw a party.

Also, fifty person guest list? I just found the e-mail where we gave them our ten person guest list.

Last time you book us? No fucking problem! If indeed that is who I am thinking about. My further interent research reminds me this prick was a dude named Matt. Hey Matt! If this is you, next time you have something to say, say it to my face, tough guy! That's my e-mail right up there.

If this anon commentor isn't this Matt I am thinking of, well, fuck you too, buddy. We may be a shitty band, as has been said time and again on this board, and we may deserve to die in a plane crash for that, but we're pretty good geezers in our behavior.
