Brittany Murphy
Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ.

She was 32.

A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.

We're told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Her time of death was listed as 10:04 AM.

Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word." Murphy was reportedly fired from last film, "The Caller," after reports she was problematic on set. [TMZ]

r.i.p. but not right for this site to be covering. i think a general rule should be if the person was never mentioned on this site and is not a musician they should not be covered in tragedy. actually seems a little inappropriate.

people live. people die. this one just happened to have some notoriety because she was in a couple of popular movies. The real sad thing is now the U.S. media will completely blow this story out of proportion just so they have something to yack about and in the process completely disrespecting this young woman's memory.

Drugs, definitely drugs

i think brooklyn vegan can post anything he feels like, i just feel this has nothing to do with music (or being a vegan) and is not really a news story of particular note, so i wonder why post about it? i mean, why not post about bill nelson? why not post about avatar? you can really pick anything on the front page of times, but picking someone's death, a person who has nothing to do with 100% of the previous content on this site, feels wrong and in kind of bad taste considering it will do nothing but direct traffic to the site.

^^ Britney Murphy liked indie music and ate hummus

i prefer a less well known, dubiously talented actress whom i'll obliquely refer to by punning on her nick name

big ups brookvegggggan

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2009 10:36 PM

it depends on what you view "brooklynvegan.com" as. If you view it as a music site than this would be a weird post. If you view it as a blog for an individual to post on whatever he feels like, then its fine. But if it is blog, its not like brooklyn vegan is saying anything at all here. There's nothing remotely personal. He's just repeating the same words that were on every other entertainment blog/website. It's like, what exactly is your point, to "inform" people that she died?

i feel like i'm on the perez hilton website

The attention TMZ gets now days is a bad sign for Rome.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2009 11:08 PM

The point is so people will talk about it. Page impressions. Obviously.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2009 11:19 PM

the point is to pay tribute and acknowledge someone that was a part of our lives.

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2009 11:24 PM

I don't know which is more boring. The current music scene or vegans.

Posted by PenUx | December 21, 2009 12:16 AM

why post it?
Because she is an artist by default and in line with the age of alot of people that read this blog.
RIP. SO sad.

i agree with 9:04 and 10:24. regardless of the subject at hand, you're re-posting TMZ for christ's sake. if people want TMZ, let them get it from TMZ. maybe we could be updated on Tiger Woods from BV too.

December 20, 2009 9:07 PM : Right because the US media is so much worse than that of other countries.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 2:28 AM

also brittany murphy was a singer, dicks. so this does have to do with music.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 3:11 AM

9:04 - you question BV posting about Brittany Murphy. Well it turns out she did have a connection to music so you are wrong and owe BV an apology.

"Murphy - who died this morning after going into cardiac arrest - sang on Oakenfold's "Faster Kill Pussycat," the opening track and lead single from his 2006 release A Lively Mind.

In addition to providing all of the vocals on "Faster Kill Pussycat," Murphy also starred in the song's video" She also performed "on the soundtrack to the huge box office hit "Happy Feet" with covers of songs by Earth Wind and Fire and Queen
