Dillinger Escape Plan

Chris's camera broke in the middle of shooting Dillinger Escape Plan at Webster Hall last night (12/29). That means no pictures of Gogol Bordello though we did manage to get them from the previous two shows (night 1 & night 2).

Gogol's pre-New Years Eve NYC run is now complete, but you can still catch Dillinger Escape Plan one more time in the NYC-area before the new year. They play with United Nations, Thursday, and Glassjaw at Starland Ballroom tonight (12/30). Gogol Bordello spend New Years Eve in Charlotesville before moving on to DC for two early January shows.

You can also catch Dillinger in 2010 if you happen to be going to a stop on the Warped Tour (where Andrew WK will also be performing). All dates and more pictures from Tuesday night's show at Webster Hall, below...

How did Dillinger go over with Gogol Bordello's audience?

Posted by noamjamski | December 30, 2009 1:41 PM

I would say an 1/8th of the audience were Dillenger fans. Other people weren't booing after songs - but when lead singer asked if everyone was waiting for Gogol there was a loud cheer. I like Dillenger but they were totally out of place at this show. Should have been Chicha Libre or Cordero or something.

Also - Eugene joined them for a cover of Iggy Pop's "Search and Destroy" and it was terrible. He didn't seem to know when to come in and when he did the band had moved onto the chorus part. Just weren't on the same page. DEP guitarist said something sarcastic after like "Can you believe we didn't rehearse that?"

As for Gogol - strong performance all and all. A lot of people were hoping on stage and dancing or stage diving. The band looked slightly unnerved by this. At one point Eugene even told people not to crowd surf if you don't know how to do it since there was no one there to catch them at the barrier for awhile.

yea mixed reaction to Dillinger but people were cheering for them

he said something about not crowdsurfing if you don't know how to do it on night 1 also. Pretty dumb thing to say since it's not like the crowdsurfer can direct traffic while he's in the air. The crowdsurfer goes where the people send him to.

On night 1 he said that you shouldn't crowd surf if you hadn't already been to 50 punk rock shows, which I took humorously.
Also, Dillinger must have put on an awesome set, in spite of the hipster-centric crowd. I saw them earlier in the month with Thursday in Boston, and that was a violent hell of a show.

sounds like Gogol Bordello's management has advised them to play up their "we're immigrants" bonafides.

shameless phonies.

Great show, greats night! This was a bill I couldn't miss! I've seen Gogol like 4 times, last night was my 21st DEP show! Greg told me the guy's in Gogol are fans, and they became friendly at boneroro. the two bands used to have the same management and that is how this whole crazy thing came about.
