« Les Savy Fav, Antlers & other BAM tickets on sale | Bradford Cox (Atlas Sound) announces shows (dates), releases free 2005 Deerhunter album, lists his 'Best of 2009' »

Dr. Dog brought holiday spirit (and real snow) (and a cigarette-filled piñata) to their sold out "July in Christmas" show at Brooklyn Bowl on Friday night (12/11). They wore holiday-themed outfits and the setlist included such hits as "'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown".
In 2010 the band will be touring with Deer Tick (who also played a themed show at Brooklyn Bowl once). The NYC date of that tour was already announced for Terminal 5 (tickets on sale). More pictures from the bowling alley, below...

Great band - Too bad they are from Philly...

Now then look even more like Emmet Otter's Jug-band Christmas. I swear these guys are Muppets. They sound like if The Electric Mayhem tried to write John Lennon songs. Not that I am comparing their writing to Lennon's. They just do a good job of copping his style in the right way.

great show! i was skeptical of the venue but it was interesting. sort of decorated like a glorified applebees or something but i'll be back. sound wasn't the best. but a sick show anyways.

great show. the screen behind the stage was awesome too... the moon and all the animations.
i agree that the sound wasn't the best, kinda muddy.
does anyone have the setlist?

Yea, the sound was very ass. From the back it seemed like the crowd wasn't very into it, lots of talking. Then I moved up and it was just like any other dr. dog concert... rocking the shit outta the crowd.

agreed, sound was quite poor. Vocals were completely muddled out. Also, with no opening band, why did dr dog not come on until 10:30?
show was set for 9pm, and that took a lot of excitement out of the crowd.
loved the stage setup and tacky x-mas touches though
