Friendly Fires

"It makes us giddy with delight to announce that New York's finest, Holy Ghost, are going to join the line-up [of our December 11th show at London's Coronet Theatre]. As if their addition weren't early christmas present enough, we're also going to be revealing an exclusive and highly limited 12" at the show. We've recorded an entirely new reworking of 'on board', showcasing the lung capacity of our brass section. On the other side of 'On Board'(pig bag version) is a fun loving remix by the boisterous Joakim. So as not to rub in the face of the ticketless too much, the 12" is also going to be available in a very limited number of record shops as well. Perfect stocking filler for any nan on the scene. [Friendly Fires]"
Friendly Fires completed their tour with The xx Saturday night at Webster Hall in NYC (12/5). Pictures from that show are in this post.

The xx start up again in March with US dates running almost to the end of April (aka look for them to appear at both SXSW and Coachella this year). The xx's next NYC show is April 22nd at Terminal 5 with Hot Chip (tickets still on sale). Hot Chip are DJing the above-mentioned UK Friendly Fires show - the show where people will get a first shot at picking up the hot new Joakim remix on vinyl. You can listen to the song now though - thanks to someone ripping it from Annie Mac's BBC show and posting the clip to YouTube.

That video, all dates, and more pictures from Webster Hall, below...

Friendly Fires put on a ridiculously fun show. Webster Hall's drink prices on the other hand, not so ridiculously fun.

Haha thanks for the twitter link. Maybe someone else can confirm, but I feel like the XX only played about 5 songs. But I could have just been too distracted by the above mentioned frat boys elbowing me and talking over the band. Romy definitely had a sore throat/scratchier voice last night. Really glad I caught them at the CMJ Apple store show when they were at the top of their game (and the audience was quiet). Last night was a disappointment on their end. FF though---wow. I'm a fan now. And that man can DANCE.

The XX was better than I thought but they had an abrupt end to their show. And I don't think they played crystalised!

anyone dorky enough, or rather, awesome enough to take a stab at the set list for The xx and/or Friendly Fires?

when the lead singer dances like that it's no wonder girls try to jump on the stage

yeah, the xx were def not in top form last night. they didn't seem like they wanted to be there, but i am sure they're exhausted. i am glad i got to see their first US show back at Bruar Falls when they were fresh and all

The XX didn't even "play" Outro/You've got the love, it played over the loudspeaker.

The XX and Friendly Fires were awesome - disappointed that XX didn't play Crystallised though.

XX was solid. Friendly Fires were excellent. Too bad most of the staff (outside the bartenders) are jerkoffs at Webster Hall.

We got moved into 3 different waiting areas before the show and it look 1/2 an hour to get your coat afterward...

I saw Friendly Fires in October of last year and have been hooked ever since. Their show on Saturday just proves that these guys keep getting better. Absolutely fantastic set, great to see such talent live.

As for The xx, I was really eager to see 'em but was a little disappointed at the crowd for talking throughout their entire set. Their sound isn't as big as Friendly Fires' and I'm not sure that a lot of people were 'ready' for the mellow sounding xx vibe. Wish they could've performed 'crystalised' and 'heart skipped a beat'. Hopefully they will when I see 'em with Hot Chip next year.
