Jack Rose

Sorry for the random update, but Three Lobed Recordings is extremely sad to pass along news that our dear friend Jack Rose passed away [Saturday] morning in Philadelphia at the age of 38. This news is still fresh to
us and we're still trying to process it. Jack was a warm, caring
person and was always a pleasure to be around. His larger than life spirit will truly, truly be missed even moreso than his inspired
musical ability. Our deepest sorrow goes out to his wife.
Rest in peace, Jack.
Cory [Three Lobed Recordings]
It was announced in August that Jack Rose had signed to Thrill Jockey Records with a new album on the way for 2010. RIP Jack. Some videos below...

So sad. What a bummer. Too young. Way too young.

I love Jack Rose. His music was awesome and he was a great guy when I met him.

I strongly think that RIP is an insult to someone who wasn't suffering or struggling with some disease and died way too young with plenty of life to go. If I died suddenly tomorrow I'd be pretty pissed off, hardly resting in peace.

10:18 Anon: Shut the fuck up and quit your bitching. Nobody gives a hoot if you think RIP is an insult. This is about remembering and appreciating Jack, not your own personal belief and bullshit.

10:21, is the bad energy really necessary here? 10:16 is just as sad to see Jack go as the rest of us are. Calm down and be respectful, please.

Jack Rose, I'm glad I got see you play as many times as I did.

what did he die of?

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 11:17 AM

"what did he die of?"

No cause of death listed = drugs

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 11:28 AM

he did *not* die of drugs. it was a heart attack.

sad. This is a fucking tragedy no matter what way you look at it. He was THEE most incredible guitarist, and we are worse off without having him around.

38 is young for a heart attack. i never heard of the guy but it is tragic nonetheless.

Jack Rose was a true talent and I'm fortunate to have seen him play a bunch of times, and hang out a bit with him. I'm devastated at this news, and thoughts go out to his friends and family. The world lost a great musician, and a great human.

Can't understand the weirdness that inevitably follows the announcment of a musician's death on BV. This is another case in point that BV is largely read by a bunch of musical novices whose idea of music history stretches back to, well, the first Silversun Pickups record.

Jack you will be truly missed by so many that you inspired.
You are a beacon across a sea of the dark and meaningless
world we know as music today. A true spark. May we all remain in your light always and forever.

Don't see what all the angry comments are for. Remember Jack for his music and be thankful you heard it - any other thoughts move on.
