Muse

UK rock band Muse will headline (for the second time) Madison Square Garden in NYC on March 5th. Recent grammy nominees Silversun Pickups are lined up to open the show. Tickets go on sale Saturday, though there will be pre-sales even sooner. The show is part of an about-to-be-announced tour that includes a show the very next day at TD Garden in Boston. All currently known dates below.

According to Consequence of Sound, Muse is also playing Coachella.

"According to a source with knowledge of the festival's plans, Muse will serve as a headliner for the Indio, CA event, set to take place from April 16-18. This will mark the British outfit's first appearance at Coachella since 2004 and will come amidst what will likely be a summer chock-full of tour dates in support of the band's most recent effort, The Resistance.

A separate source confirms that both Hot Chip and The xx will make room in their recently announced U.S. tour and also appear. These latest additions join Devo, Craze & Klever, and As Tall As Lions, all of which have been previously confirmed by other Internet outlets.

Keeping the fun going, Vampire Weekend, Phoenix, The Avett Brothers, and Pavement are all heavily rumored, while Tegan & Sara, Spacemen 3, Pretty Lights, Cornelious, and Imogen Heap are among the others currently appearing on our Coachella Outlook page."

This is a fantastic lineup, Muse always has really good openers. Cloud Room and Cold War Kids were both really good, but Silversun Pickups fucking Rock!

Unfortunately, never got to see them play their own show. saw them open for wolfmother, and i saw them play a set at All points west, but id love to see them at their own headlined show sometime.

yikes so after service charge $75 to see Muse at the garden..no thanks..

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 11:52 AM

Spacemen3? Who said this? They will never get back together! I dont think Jason and Peter have spoken since Bush Sr. was President. Maybe you meant Spectrum?

Posted by Ian | December 7, 2009 11:54 AM

how the fuck do people like muse? jesus, they are one of the worst bands playing music today.

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 11:58 AM

@ 11:58

While you're of course entitled to your opinion, they have millions of fans who would completely disagree with your assessment. They'll sell out this show immediately, and it sure isn't because "they are one of the worst bands playing music today".

In other news, did anyone notice that Silversun Pickups were Grammy nominated as Best NEW Artist?? They've been around since '05, and Caravans was a pretty big hit in 2006

The Resistance is a giant turd, but i'll still see them live

Muse 2010 ($75) - FAIL!

You realize these aren't two comparable things, right? Festival pricing scales are completely different (artists undercut their own take for exposure to the masses at these things, and that applies everyone but the main headliners at the very least) and in 2004 their most recent album was just getting noticed in this country (they weren't even on the main stage for this tour). Get your head out of your ass.

presale info anybody?

it's funny about that SPIN issue they were on the cover of... in the reviews section, they reviewed the new record yet put the SHOWBIZ album mini next to the review... come on, how do you even do that? that record is almost 10 years old!

Please excuse me and my nerdery for being right.

How can Muse sell out MSG?

I saw this small live show on tv this weekend for silversun pickups. Probably one of the worst things I've ever seen. This guys voice was so bad... even for an indy hipster band!

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 5:34 PM

@1:33 and 1:44: girls, girls - you're both pretty.

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 5:41 PM

@5:34 - it woudn't be the first time. they did so in 2007.

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 5:42 PM

Muse has been fucking terrible for years.

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 6:09 PM

wait, it's really $75 for muse? fuck.

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 7:40 PM

The only reason why Muse are so big is because Radiohead don't tour often. Don't settle for knock off bands.

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 8:15 PM

I'm sorry Dirty Projectors aren't playing MSG (or will ever play MSG). Get over it, Muse are that big and you hate them for that. Like it or not, they are one of the best live bands today.

Posted by Anonymous | December 7, 2009 8:28 PM

Looking forward to this. They were great last time.

Hate on.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2009 8:13 AM

Does anyone have the pre-sale info?

Posted by j | December 8, 2009 10:55 AM

@ 7:40

Matt Bellamy and Thom Yorke's voice sound somewhat similar. Get over it.

The two bands style of music, while in the early years was arguably similar, is now totally different.

The "I don't like muse cause they sound like radiohead" argument is the oldest, most shitty and lame argument around for not liking muse.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2009 11:10 AM

Wait spacemen 3? What???????

actually bands get paid more to play festivals than they do for regular gigs.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2009 1:01 PM

Muse are ace. What's up with the hating? Didn't your mother tell you "If you have nothing nice to say..."

And $75 for Muse is well worth it.

Posted by Anonymous | December 8, 2009 3:52 PM

WTF, presale sold out in a couple of minutes, this is ridiculous!

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 10:04 AM

sold out by 10:01 AM?
serious?

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 10:05 AM

got 4 GA,, woo hoo!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 10:05 AM

Does anyone have the presale code for the Ticketmaster sale tomorrow

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 10:08 AM

seems like everyone else also got shut out of it
reading the message board it looks like there was a glitch, this sucks!

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 10:12 AM

What Ticketmaster sale tomorrow?
And I didn't get a ticket either. Does anyone know how much one of them was?

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 10:17 AM

$50 and $65

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 10:39 AM

GLITCH FIXED! JUST GOT 4 TICKETS @ 10:45! GO BACK!

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 10:45 AM

I got 4 in Sec 96 - was hoping for GA's. Anyone who got GA's what price were they under??? I picked $50 thinking it would be for them, and I got seats (good ones even, but, not what I wanted).

Posted by Funderburgh | December 9, 2009 11:33 AM

GA is $65. I just went with the most expensive one and it turned out to be GA Floor tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 12:01 PM

@12:01 - thanks.

I've had that work for and against me. The Muse/U2 tickets were the opposite, for example (GA was cheapest ticket in house).

Posted by Funderburgh | December 9, 2009 12:03 PM

@12:03
That's odd. o-o
I just need to know where to start lining up at MSG now for the day of the show. Do you have any idea?

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 12:05 PM

@ 12:05

If you're actually serious about that (and have GA tix already), there is only one GA entrance at MSG and it is on W33rd towards the 8th Ave end. It isn't the tower entrance either - there is a separate GA door to the right of the tower. Anyway, if you're in the front of that line when the doors open you should end up with a choice spot up front.

Posted by Funderburgh | December 9, 2009 12:26 PM

^

and by "on the right of the tower" I meant left - oops.

Posted by Funderburgh | December 9, 2009 12:27 PM

@12:26
Thanks. :] I haven't been to MSG for a concert in over ten years, so I wouldn't remember it anyway.
How early do people get to Muse shows? My friend is trying for a spot up front [we have GA tickets], and she's planning to go really early for it.

Posted by Anonymous | December 9, 2009 12:48 PM

You're on your own for "how early". I'm lucky to ever be at a show in time for the opener.

I went to the last Muse show at MSG (Aug'07) and had GA tix then. I got there sometime during Cold War Kids set and had a pretty good spot mid-center. I didn't push for anything closer than that, but, I also didn't wait outside for the doors to open either. That show was sold out, too.

Posted by Funderburgh | December 9, 2009 1:26 PM

does anyone know why some seats cant see the opening act?

Posted by jon | February 14, 2010 5:11 PM

het..listen, muse is one of my favorite bands..if u got a problem with that. u can tell it to ur mama...seriously muse is now really good..and becoming better..stop hating.^,..,^ just saying im going to MSG today..awesomeness...

Posted by Luna Black | March 5, 2010 5:38 PM

This U.K. rock band, MUSE, really rocks the music scene! Good thing that they'll be having their concert at MGS again because a lot of people missed the first one and now is their chance to watch Muse. The tour schedule that is posted above could really help me because I'm finding a free time so I could see them perform.
