Troy Young

Police are still looking for answers in the shooting of a Brooklyn drummer who was found dead in his apartment Friday.

Troy Young, 29, was found in his basement apartment on Fourth Street in Carroll Gardens Friday with a gunshot wound to his head.

By Saturday, police said that Troy was shot in the left shoulder and that the bullet passed through his heart.

The door to the apartment was unlocked and nothing appeared to have been stolen, police said.

Young was the drummer in the Brooklyn band "Curious Mishap."

"Troy was very hard working, he went to New York to 'go where the big time is,' " said his grieving father Ed told the New York Post. [NBC]

RIP Troy.

Troy was also the last drummer of brooklyn band Candiria. Many folks do not realize this. He was a good friend of the band, and stepped up to take on the task of playing drums for us when Ken Schalk left the band.

He played the very last Candiria show ever, when we opened for the VOD reunion in LI back in August of 2006.

He will be missed by so many folks. It is still so hard to believe that this happened.

So sad to see a life loss due to senseless violence.

Also, in Carroll Gardens? I except stuff like this to happen in Bushwick.

From the Post Article:

Young's sister, Allison Marotta, said her brother had a girlfriend who also had another relationship.

"This guy has been in Troy's face a couple of times," she said.

4th st in Carroll Gardens is off of Smith St. If you walk down Smith past the Carroll St. train station towards Hamilton, you will see 4th place. it is a block that doesn't run a great distance.

Some one does not know their geography. There is a 4th Street in Brooklyn on the east side of the subway perpendicular to Smith. I live there!!
