DOWNLOAD: Retribution Gospel Choir - Hide It Away (MP3)

new album in 2k10? - don't sweat it!
Retribution Gospel Choir

Retribution Gospel Choir are Low's Alan Sparhawk, Low bassist Steve Garrington, and Eric Pollard on drums & co-vox. Last night (12/15), they played Mercury Lounge in NYC. Did anyone catch the show?

In 2010 (January 26th to be exact), the band will put out their second album, titled 2, on Sub Pop. Check a track from that album, "Hide It Away", above. Their self-titled debut was released in 2008 on Mark Kozelek's Caldo Verde Records.

In support of their forthcoming Sub Pop debut, the band has a whole mess of North American tour dates lined up for late-January/February. The band returns to Mercury Lounge for a show on February 1st. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon. They then play a second NYC show the next night (2/2) at Union Hall. Ticket info TBA. They go to Europe after that.

The band posted a 2009 year-that-was update on their website - that and all tour dates are below...

Retribution Gospel Choir "The 2009 Update"

Apparently, we have missed the '07 & '08 updates. Sorry. That makes this one all the more special. 2009 has been a great year for us so far. In May, we had a slew of shows in Europe, starting with the ATP festival in Minehead. Fantastic, Minehead was the clear winner over Monticello, NY. We were slayed by Andrew W.K., Jesus Lizard and Sleep. Heavy stuff. After a seeing some familiar faces and playing shows in a few more of our favorite cities, Glasgow, Manchester and London, we headed back to our home away from home, Spain. Spain continued to be the jam for for us. Many thanks to some of the wonderful people that helped out, Eddo, Javier, Jorge and Jose Luiz.

In June, we had the privilege of touring with the Meat Puppets. Those guys brought it every night. Touchdown King, forget about it. The highlight of the tour was getting them to come up to Duluth for a show. Crowd surfing still happens.

As we were wrapping up the tour, we headed into Sacred Heart Studio in Duluth to record the second record. As of now, the record is finished, and it will be released January 26 2010 on Sub Pop Records. [RGC II comes out in January and we will put new tunes up on the page around that time. For now, we posted a snippet of some more recent dub stuff we did while recording the new record.]
Thanks and be kind, -RGC

I got a hard on for them when I saw them open for Meat Puppets. Just saying.

I just want to tell all the ladies who left comments that I find it really interesting and kind of a boost of confidence to read how horned up you are about a picture showing some half naked sweaty regular looking guys. At the age of 22, I'm starting to realize that killing myself at the gym is actually deflecting women rather than attracting the right types.
