DJBlue Night Events is hosting a New Years Eve party at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 W 18th St) with DJ Mel DeBarge and a short, post-ball-drop set from Talib Kweli. You can even see who's going... Tickets are on sale.

As previously noted, Talib also performs even sooner with his Blacksmith imprint at Highline Ballroom on Wednesday (12/23) with Jean Grae, Strong Arm Steady and Pete Rock. There are still tickets left.

Jean Grae also appears on a bill with a "special guest" at Southpaw tonight (12/22)

Highline Ballroom also hosts a hip hop show tonight, but with Jadakiss and Clipse.

Talib's first 2010 appearance will be a DJ set at Brooklyn Bowl on January 3rd, on a bill with Graph Nobel and John Forte. Tickets are on sale.

Q-Tip is DJing Brooklyn Bowl on New Years Eve.

This is a great and very valuable information about Talib Kweli playing New Years Eve, playing Highline even sooner, and (like Q-Tip) DJing at Brooklyn Bowl. Thank you very much for sharing this information with us.

Thanks.

After canceling a November 16th performance at SUNY Purchase due to back problems, musician Dan Deacon has returned to full force. On Saturday, February 20th, the visiting alumnus played late into the night at the Stood Student Center [ed: pronounced "'st(y)ood"]. His set was jam-packed with the crowd participation he's well-known for. Turning the Stood into one massive dance party Deacon seemed at home among the current student body.

I had the pleasure of seeing Voivod with Piggy twice and they blew my mind both times.... have to admit I was skeptical about Dan Mongrain but he completely shreds. He doesn't pull a copy cat note for note imitation, but it sounds 100 % Voivod...something I thought to be impossible without Piggy's genius
