The Antlers @ MHOW (more by Tim Griffin)

As just posted, The Antlers are playing a show with Ra Ra Riot at BAM in February. That comes after their headlining gig at Bowery Ballroom, which is now sold out.
Shortly after the BAM show, strangely?, the band is going out on tour with Editors. Editors tour North America from February 5-21. The Antlers join them on the 8th. That means they open the Terminal 5 show on the 19th which just went on on presale.
The Antlers played the BV showcase @ MHOW in October. NYC Taper has the audio from that show. All dates below...

I saw them at Music Hall and they were by far one of the best bands at CMJ.

They're opening for Ra Ra Riot, if that's not clear. Tickets go on sale next Friday.

i think the fact that this show has only now just sold out - after being announced months ago - shows how reluctant people are to embrace them. critical darlings perhaps, but how well does it translate?

Caught them at The Independent (SF) last month. Phenomenal performance. I'm so glad to see them attracting an audience that warrants more tour dates at larger venues. 'Hospice' was my favorite album of 2009.

Its a really good sign for this band that the only realistic negative bv comment about them is that their show didn't sell out fast enough.

Love that you used a picture of Mike. Nicest guy in the band.

Your point is completely invalid. There are only 8 TOTAL shows sold out at Bowery Ballroom right now. THREE of them are Patti Smith, and the other four are bands who could obviously play bigger venues (Vampire Weekend, Yeasayer, Citizen Cope and Dinosaur Jr).

^This post wins it. As small as it is, selling out bowery ballroom is an accomplishment for a band that a year ago could barely get a dozen people to come to their show, they've come a long way and theres no way their even close to done yet.
And people aren't reluctant at all to embrace them. I have friends who listen strictly to power pop and punk music who were bummed that they couldn't go to this show once tix sold out.

I hope the fans could be catered in all those tour schedules mentioned above. Antlers with the Editors would really magnet a large number of audience because of their great music that people would love to listen. Let us continue loving their music and continue supporting them!
