is this the story of vivian girls?
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 1:28 PM
why?
Posted by panopticon | December 21, 2009 1:31 PM
Oh cmon people. "Why?!" Because the Runaways were freaking awesome, that's why. It's not going to be a great piece of filmmaking but I think it will be fun as hell to watch.
Vivian Girls? Please. Why don't you listen to the Waitin' for the Night album and then come back and tell me the Runaways didn't rock.
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 1:36 PM
The Vivian Girls are better.
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 1:47 PM
Well, at least they didn't f*&k up Cherry Bomb too badly.
Anyone who thinks the Vivian Girls are better than The Runaways needs a crash course in fun.

another argument with hipsters showing blinding ignorance, or just a propensity to stir up shit.
all i know is i saw the runaways open for the ramones on long island in 1978 and i'll never forget it.

"all i know is i saw the runaways open for the ramones on long island in 1978 and i'll never forget it."
Wow, that's an awesome memory to have...must've been one amazing show!
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 1:57 PM
I saw them in 1928 open for Cab Calloway! Fantastic!!
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 1:59 PM
Cab Calloway setlist sucked in 28! He sold out by going the majors. I saw him in 22 and that was solid!
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 2:10 PM

congratulations for getting over the child star hump

Fuh. Kin. Awe. SOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 2:32 PM
as long as there is demand for plumper porn there will be an audience for a vivian girls movie
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 2:34 PM
Screw you, 2:19, I say "on Long (Staten, whatever) Island," too.
Posted by not 1:52 | December 21, 2009 2:35 PM
2:19: If you want to be that much of a stickler, you are missing a comma before "asshat." Also, you called someone an "asshat."
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 2:39 PM
The Runaways would've been nothing without Kim Fowley.
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 2:43 PM
This movie would not have been made if it wasn't for the Vivian Girls and how awesome they are!!!!
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 3:03 PM
@ 2:34
thanks for that laugh (genuine compliment)...I needed it today.
Posted by Funderburgh | December 21, 2009 3:06 PM
2:19...you're correct, it isn't correct to say "on long island"
HOWEVER, nearly every person from long island says "on" long island as opposed to "in"
i suppose using people from long island to justify an argument isn't helping anything though
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 3:14 PM
who's playing lita ford? oh, right, no one cares about her.
Posted by iamtheangel.com | December 21, 2009 3:17 PM
i have a cameo in this movie as Ron Jeremy...
ruling!
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 3:35 PM
2:19 and 3:14, I think you both may be incorrect. Why wouldn't it be correct to say I live "on Long Island"? You would say "I live on an island", not "I live in an island".
I know when you say what state you are from, you say "in", as in "I live in Delaware", but an island is something you say you live ON. Example, "I live on the Island of Kauai, in Hawaii."

Michael Fucking Shannon.
Posted by olivery | December 21, 2009 4:31 PM
i see through you.arguing about grammar to obfuscate the fact that you live in fucking long island
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 4:33 PM
I hope there's a Carrie Underwood song in the soundtrack.
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 4:53 PM
4:07, I think when someone refers to Long Island, though, they are often referring to just one specific part of the island and not the island itself. Brooklyn and Queens are "on" Long Island, but no one from these neighborhoods say they live "in Long Island," or "on" it.
So, technically, I think they live in Long Island on Long Island.
Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2009 5:28 PM
If you are referring to one specific part of the island, you would say which part you live in.
"I live on Long Island"
"Oh really, what town?"
"I live in Babylon"
"Oh, ok"
When you say you live "On Long Island" that generally means you either live in Nassau or Suffolk. However, if you live in Brooklyn and Queens, you do live ON Long Island. It is an Island. Brooklyn and Queens are undeniably part of it, whether or not anyone wants to refer to it that way.
If you said you lived IN Long Island, it would sound like you were hidden in some underground lair like a supervillain within the depths of the Island.

This looks pretty fun and Joan Jett fucking rocks.

1) Anyone who grew up on LI knows you say ON LONG ISLAND. Long Island is not know for its proper grammar. This only refers to Nassau/Suffolk
2) The whole Vivian Girls vs The Runaways is so retarded. The Runaways were at a point in time where they came to represent something so much greater than their songs. Kim Fowley, of course, but at that time it was unheard of. The Vivian Girls, while fun lil tattooed creations, really just made a pop record that sounds like a million other pop records that came out round Black Tambourine's tambourine shakin' time. You cant compare someone who opened the door partially with someone who just happened to walk through it.
Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2009 2:12 PM
Vivian Girls shouldn't even be within a continent of a discussion about The Runaways...now Magneta Lane, they're at least in the same time zone...
Posted by B | December 23, 2009 9:24 AM
The whole Snow LP is pretty solid. And these guys easily sold out 3 NYC shows already.
^^^Maybe these are scalpers upset about the T5 addition?
