These Are Powers

Happy Holidays! I take on more than I can handle. That results in a lot of unposted content. In the name of catching up, while also taking it easy during this final week of the year, here's some of that lost material.

A set of pictures from a These are Powers show at Death By Audio, continued below...

I was totally at this show!..oh no wait, I was at home jamming forks into my ears. Sorry, that sounds pretty similar, I got confused.

yes it does. what a fucking turd of a band. fuck you and your shitty music and your spandex wannabe ugly ass eighties fashions.

yeah are you kidding me don't talk about a thing, people on here are too cool to like something that isn't like The Beatles or Radiohead or whatever.

band owns, go back to Iowa.

"hurrr i cant like this it sounds weird and hipsters might like it" *continues judging music by its visual aesthetics, never leaves house*

Posted by Anonymous | December 28, 2009 9:32 PM

i used to hate this band.
but hey have gotten crazy good.
seriously, even if you think you dont like them-give them another shot. they totes changed my mind.

"band owns, go back to Iowa."

yo this is my BV comments section insult, and you are not allowed to use it to defend this shitty band, which is such unrepentant arty-not-real-musicians hipster bullshit that it is probably actually from iowa.

Posted by Anonymous | December 28, 2009 11:23 PM

11:23 you obvi havent seen the band in the last 6months.
they may wear hipster clothes but the music is anything but.
THESE ARE POWERS SLAY LIVE.

At least he said Iowa, not Ohio. I never got the "Ohio" insult, given that about half of the greatest bands in American rock'n'roll have been from Ohio. But Iowa is fair game in my book.

i like the PR people trying out their new "this band is much better live now!" tactic the same way they did for girls

Posted by Anonymous | December 29, 2009 1:14 AM

Why the mention of "hipsters"? This is geek rock and the audience are a bunch of dorks.

Posted by Anonymous | December 29, 2009 1:40 AM

One person may be from Nebraska. There OK but to say they slay just sounds dumb. Keep the slaying, owning, and killing to the video games kids.

At least it looks like everybody wasnt hanging out by the bar and bathrooms as usual all night.

word wassup with that?
e4e1 puts on such amazing shows at Death, but ppl spend most of the time in the backroom talking... fucking weirdos, stay home and talk so that when there actually is a between set there's space for me to sit

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but most bands in Brooklyn are pretentious art-rock, non-musician bullshit. It's cool though, the shows are fun and beer is always cheap. It's entertainment.

Posted by Anonymous | December 29, 2009 11:35 AM

what a bunch of hipster douches from the midwest

Posted by Anonymous | December 29, 2009 1:08 PM

I'm fatter than Jesus.

The bass player (from NEBRASKA!) in this band used to have balls and he rocked. Now he is in this awful band and plays the gayest of the gay music around. He is quite fickle and plays whatever is "hip" at the time. One of those dudes...

Posted by Anonymous | December 29, 2009 7:39 PM

Wow, you all are BRUTAL!

These Are Powers is in my opinion the best live band in Brooklyn, period. I don't care what you think they look like, or even if you like their albums - this band blows most bands off the stage. If you don't believe me, go see them.

As for the 'gay' comment about the bass player, I don't what to tell you - there's too much wrong with that comment to say anything - but it is obvious you do not know what makes a good bass player.

Not to mention they're extremely sweet and nice in person - far from pretentious.

Stop all the hate on this website and make some music of your own.
