That is just terrible and sad about the girl killed on her bike. That's just down the street from me, ride around there all the time. Incredible that the driver doesn't seem to be in any sort of trouble or face any legal proceedings. And you wonder why NY drivers (rated the worst in the country, along with NJ's) don't give a fuck about bicyclists...
Awful, awful news.

"And you wonder why NY drivers (rated the worst in the country, along with NJ's) don't give a fuck about bicyclists..."
No one wonders. It's hard to care about anyone who rides a bicycle when almost all of them are obnoxious self-centered hipsters who think they don't have to follow any laws.

@4:04 yeah, self-centered hipsters riding a bike instead of contributing to global warming. Fad or not, you can't really say riding a bike is a bad thing

Tragic deaths and global warming aside, you have to admit that bicyclists in NY are real assholes when it comes to obeying traffic laws.
Just because your bicycle doesn't have a motor doesn't mean you can go the wrong way down one way streets, blow through red lights, weave through traffic, not signal your turns, ride on the sidewalk, etc. If you're gonna ride a bike, you have to be prepared to obey the same traffic laws that everyone else on the road has to obey. By refusing to do so, you're not only putting yourself in danger, but everyone around you as well.
Bicycles should be registered and tagged just like any other on-road vehicle.

Riding a bike is good for you. And you know that the Earth (as well as the rest of the galaxy) has been in a cooling trend for the past decade. "Global warming" is the tool of a fascist political movement (by world banking, business and political leaders) to set up a dictatorial world government that will end all national sovereignty and create a much larger disparage between the wealthy. as well as impoverish and enslave humanity. You should really open your eyes to what's going on in the world.

To 5:27
What are your sources for this fascistic scenario you envision?
Earth is not on a cooling trend. And if the rest of the galaxy is on a cooling trend, as you claim, that won't affect matters here on earth. Space is very cold as it is, but because of earth's atmosphere, which traps heats, we have a warm planet. The problem is we're emitting too much heat-trapping gases and overburdening the system!

Unrelated to this day specifically, but went to see Fela! with Antibalas last night, and it was probably the best musical I've ever seen. Definitely make a point to go when you can.

and also the One up Sneakers "space jam" release party.

Steve Earle was great -- Townes would have been proud.
