11:02-douche!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 11:04 AM

Oh, and what about those question marks on Sunday's text in the concert poster below? No, that isn't saving a spot for a Smiths reunion or U2 debut on the Coachella stage, it's the way that Yorke presents himself as a solo star, the marquee at his Orpheum concert had the same punctuational flourish.

This is the only place where people bitch and complain about this line up. It's like the grimy depths of the music world, plagued by more bitching and more complaining, enjoy the fun in the sun, this is going to be very solid weekend of music

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 11:32 AM

11:07, you're not fooling anyone - you've never had a thought in your life, you tired ass.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 11:44 AM

people are backing this lineup? fucking weakest it's been in years.

also, jay z needs to stop being everywhere. his new album is trash and i'm pretty sick of seeing him everywhere.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 11:49 AM

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:03 PM

All of you are out of your mind. This is possibly the best festival lineup I have ever seen.

Posted by Zatzbatz | January 19, 2010 12:03 PM

Dear people who think this lineup is lame,

What would you like to see on that is missing? It seems to me that this is a pretty solid lineup for what it is. Looks like there is something for everyone. Are you people just dicks or do you actually have any constructive criticism?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:06 PM

Friday pretty week...Jay Z headline? God help us... and LCD is pretty good but not to co-headline... and VW? Well, no comments about this boy band that you all seem to love .
Sat. and sunday definitely worth it especially for Gorillaz, Muse, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Julian C., Dead Weather, Thom Yorke, FNM and Spoon...sweet!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:09 PM

BV-"WOW", No wow here. Once again we have the idiots including that Johnny Greenwood simp who go crazy over this stupid festival.

Breaking it down there is nothing special here especially if you are a person who goes to concerts regularly. All these bands have played or are playing around here in much smaller and better sounding venues.

Faith No More is going to be playing dates in NYC this year along with Pavement(not only Summerstage),Thom Yorke,LCD Soundsystem, PIl and Gorillaz.

The Specials are a shell of the original band, PIL which is missing some very important people now and as for Sly and the Family Stone. If you had gone to BB Kings 2 years ago well then you know what you are getting with that one.

Yeah im hating on this shit but only a douche would think standing in an open field miles away from the stage watching a band on video screens is INSANE.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:10 PM

Only a douche would complain about a festival on here. It's like picking on a handicapped person. Wow... aren't you cool, you don't like festivals.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:13 PM

11:07.. You probably wasted 10 minutes of your life to write that?!

Go back to Boise.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:16 PM

"Only a douche would complain about a festival on here. It's like picking on a handicapped person"

Yeah, that made a lot of sense. Back to the drawing board for you, Einstein.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:20 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:21 PM

as an expert MEH'er it only took 2 minutes

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:23 PM

as an expert ASS it only took 2 minutes

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:26 PM

Despite Devo, The Dead Weather and Hot Chip, Saturday is the weakest lineup of the three.

Posted by blackhat | January 19, 2010 12:27 PM

hahahahaha totally agree with 12:13...this talk trash about, well, everything to look cool is just plain stupid. I dont know if i'll go, but if have extra cash would love to be there, while you guys stay on BV looking at video and pics. commenting how lame it probably was...give me a break!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:27 PM

NO BREAK FOR YOU!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:30 PM

"The Specials are a shell of the original band"

@Anon12:10 - Are you sure about that? Rumors have it that even Jerry Dammers has agreed to participate, which would mean you'd basically be getting the full original Specials line up.

Posted by blackhat | January 19, 2010 12:33 PM

yay! LCD Soundsystem is finally back. They are amazing live.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:46 PM

What time do Daft Punk go on?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:48 PM

blackhat,
Not gonna happen and if it did you can be sure they won't just play one show at a festival but play other dates as well and for sure in NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 12:49 PM

it's way overbooked. you will be disappointed in every single set.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 1:07 PM

you wont be able to see most sets. have fun watching it on a screen!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 1:16 PM

12:23 Who cares.

Still, go back to Boise.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 1:20 PM

haha people so desperate to complain now bitch about how stacked the lineup is.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 1:22 PM

ORBITAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by brian roach | January 19, 2010 1:24 PM

I wish I could rearrange the line-up to make one sweet day.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 1:27 PM

12:10, as a regular concert goer who's also been to coachella several times, I think you should put your head back in your ass where it belongs for the following reasons:

1. "the idiots including that Johnny Greenwood simp who go crazy over this stupid festival"

WOW.

2. There are no announced dates in New York for ANY of the bands you mentioned. Do you have secret information?

3. As for the festival experience, most of the sets i've seen at Coachella sounded great even when i was a good distance away. With the exception of the main stage, and only during the last 2 or 3 bands come on, it is extremely simple to get close to the front.

People aren't exactly going to step out of your way but a tap on the shoulder, a slight forfeiture of personal space, and an "excuse me. sorry." will get you as close as you want to be 99% of the time.

The other 1% where someone pushes you back or bitches you out is easily resolved by moving asside to one of the many people who are too hot and stoned to make a big deal about letting you through.

Festivals aren't for everyone, obviously, but if you've never gone to one then you owe it to yourself to try it (so long as the bands make it worth your dollar). Plus it's hard to find a much nicer location than this.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 1:33 PM

better....than....expected

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 1:45 PM

I've seen thirteen of these bands (and Phoenix twice). And I'll be seeing at least four more of them in the next few months. I think I'm okay.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 1:45 PM

"The other 1% where someone pushes you back or bitches you out is easily resolved by moving asside to one of the many people who are too hot and stoned to make a big deal about letting you through."

How appealing.

Do you fly there in Dad's private jet?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 1:47 PM

Coa Meh Chella

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:10 PM

Decent lineup.

But I'll wait for the much easier managed APW, Roo, or Lollapalooza.

That way I don't have to camp or stay in a $400 a night roach motel in methville USA. Just to see bands everyone here has seen before.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:11 PM

Jerry Dammers is NOT in this lineup of the Specials, but all the others are.

much better lineup than last year.

anyone who complains about visibility has never been to this particular festival, and is talking about Reading or Glastonbury or something. at Coachella it's extremely easy to move around, get close, go from stage to stage, etc. and it'll be particularly easy this year because it'll be underattended. people aren't blowing $ on this kind of thing like they did a couple years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:12 PM

all that matters is faith no more. fuck the rest.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:14 PM

It WON'T be under attending.

It's trending on all social media and people are very happy about the line up. Attendance will go up, it will be very crowded.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:14 PM

LCD soundsystem second on the bill of anything is kinda of a joke.

Same goes for Faith No More.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:15 PM

I'd take McCartney/Prince over Jay Z ANYDAY!

Last few years were better.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:16 PM

Faith No More is OVER RATED

Always has been.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:17 PM

But, they care a lot!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:19 PM

Daft Punk and Blue need to be added to this lame lineup

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:43 PM

only LA and LI olds liked Faith No More. nobody else could give a crap.

Coachella usually isn't very crowded, even when it's sold out. Last year didn't sell out and neither will this year.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 2:53 PM

what is an LA and LI old?

Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | January 19, 2010 5:37 PM

No surprise that the only people crapping on this lineup are NYC elitists.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 6:02 PM

Whose dick did RX Bandits suck to get on Coachella this year? Talk about a totally irrelevant and bizarre addition. Can't wait until next year when they have the Buck-O-Nine and Save Farris reunions headlining Sunday's lineup.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 6:16 PM

only Faith No More matters and they will come to nyc eventually so coachella is a waste of money as usual.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 6:21 PM

alot of good acts mixed in with crap.

COACH MEH LA.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 6:50 PM

gary fucking numan dudes!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 6:51 PM

I had no idea Muse was popular...definitely not this popular.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 7:27 PM

Christ, Faith No More sucks people. Have you listened to their stuff recently? I'm not talking about your memories of listening to them in junior high, I'm talking about putting on "The Real Thing" and listening to it right now. It's' awful.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 9:03 PM

9:03-"The Real Thing" is a classic record. you have no idea what your talking about. FNM are fucking legends.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 11:16 PM

Which legends are they fucking?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2010 11:29 PM

goldenvoice has to get a clue when it comes to the electronic music front. that DJ lineup is downright embarrassing...

11:29-your mom

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 10:58 AM

1:44, I think you are seeing a different DJ lineup than I am.

2Many DJs
Bassnectar
Benny Benassi
Club 75(Mehdi, Busy P, Xavier from Justice, Cassius)
Deadmau5
DJ Lance Rock(Yo Gabba Gabba is dope, don't front)
Flying Lotus
Infected Mushroom
Major Lazer
Orbital
Rusko
Tiesto
Z-Trip

Posted by Zatzbatz | January 20, 2010 11:25 AM

10:58 - NO U, fanboy.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 11:38 AM

11:25-
half that line up is repeated from past years. that lineup is not the current state of electronic music. if you think it is, you have to get out more and get a clue...

Posted by K81 | January 20, 2010 12:02 PM

i totally missed Gary Numan, because his name is inexplicably buried by flavor of the month indie bands

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 12:25 PM

$300 is a lot of snaps for this bill. gonna see what the other festivals pull first.

also, the comments on this blog are basically diarrhea. need a h8r moderator

Posted by yer boi | January 20, 2010 12:36 PM

I already see the gorillaz/pavement conflict and it will be tragic.

totally going to be up for the hot chip-leading-into-devo thing though!

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 12:42 PM

Mama's Boi @ 12:36 needs shielding from hurtful thoughts - he's VERY sensitive.

Time to curl up in a fetal position, Emo - it's a cold, cruel world out there...

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 1:15 PM

Oh, wow. Negative hipster douchebag reactions to the lineup? No way I would have expected that from BV...

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 3:14 PM

"The Real Thing" is indeed a classic album. I've listened to it recently and think it still kicks ass. Great songs, amazing vocal performance.
Angel Dust is a huge progression for them and an amazing record in a completely different way. Truly revolutionary. Anyone who doesn't like FNM just doesn't know anything and can suck it.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 3:26 PM

Put it away (can't you hear the laughter?) - we shall NOT suck it,

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 4:37 PM

uggh David Guetta. just awful GV. your standards have hit an all time low I see...

Posted by K81 | January 20, 2010 7:08 PM

This lineup happens to be very good. Pavement and Deerhunter are playing on the same day. It doesn't get much better than that.

Anyone who wonders why LCD Soundsystem has the second billing has obviously not seen them live. They are probably the best band i've ever seen at a festival (Lollapalooza 2007).

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 7:30 PM

have fun watching ants on stage cuz thats how far away you'll be bitches

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2010 8:25 PM

I could not agree more!!

730p knows what's up. LCD is the best live band on that entire lineup.

Posted by yeah, i said it | January 23, 2010 11:37 AM

This lineup is pretty good, but its still missing a few things.
I don't see the punk, don't see the good rock and roll.
I don't feel the underground vibe I got from last year.
Sorry I'm going to use this word, but this year there seems to be a lot more mainstream kind of music this year.
Last year everybody I knew didn't even know the word coachella, now they're all pissing their pants over it.
I guess coachella is just getting more famous

All of you are out of your mind. This is possibly the best festival lineup I have ever seen.

If you think this lineup is terrible, wait until APW is announced. * I am sure that lineup will be sub par at best.

* assuming there is another APW. They should throw in the towel on that failure.

I love this lineup. I would kill to be able to see this. Sure I dont like some of the bands on here but there are so many great ones. Grizzly Bear, Phoenix,Dirty Projectors, Tokyo Police Club, Thom Yorke???, Gil-Scot Heron (makin a comeback!!)), Beach House. For those of you going you also have gotta check out sleigh bells and Local Natives. They are two amazing up and coming bands! How can you not love this lineup!?

Lineup is not indie enough, but it's not that bad.

I don't like it........

So if Coachella sucks, which festival should I go to then. Love to get some information about a nice counter festival around the same time.

Thanks

Glad to see D.R.I. getting there due. This was the first band I ever saw live way back in 1989. I was in the sixth grade and went with my older brother's friend. It was on the THRASH ZONE tour. Ruled.

The first ever music I purchased were two cassettes, D.R.I's DEALING WITH IT and CROSSOVER. Long live thrash metal.

Great pictures.
Excellent post, thank you very much for taking the time to share with those who are starting on the subject. Greetings

all that matters is faith no more. fuck the rest.

Posted by hostgator free | May 26, 2010 6:00 AM

I agree, Faith No More was awesome. Totally made the event worthwhile. Enjoyed LCD System as well. Can't wait til next year.

Lots of NY bands yes, but you don't mention Kevin Devine? Nice Village Voice. Always good to see you support locals doing good.

Time to curl up in a fetal position, Emo - it's a cold, cruel world out there...

Thats wierd. I find it funny how the people make a joke of that!

Challenge for any festival that repeats year on year. How to include the upcoming punk, rock and roll and plain edge.

As venues mature there seems to be a lot more mainstream kind of music.

This is a risk as coachella is getting more famous

This lineup happens to be very good. Pavement and Deerhunter are playing on the same day. It doesn't get much better than that.Anyone who wonders why LCD Soundsystem has the second billing has obviously not seen them live. They are probably the best band i've ever seen at a festival (Lollapalooza 2007).

Wonderful post and the location is beautiful and elegant in design and information and everything>>> to Favorites
Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
