Animal Collective (aka Geologist) and Fischerspooner (Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner) were the DJs at One Step Beyond in NYC on Friday night (1/8). More pictures from the museum party, below...

It was actually pretty cool event, drinks and dancing in the planetarium, can't go wrong with that. Best part was wondering the museum after the show, I don't what happened but security seemed to have just called it a night after the show was over. Wondering those hallways at night is a good way to shit your pants!

MUCH AGREED. the first two DJ's were great. when Geologist took stage (not AC), the dance vibe went way down. low energy compared to the earlier DJ's. people just staring around. we left during his set.

i thought it's always been agreed that animal collective means 2 or more of dem animals otherwise it's just a solo thing
false advertising

"It was a sad dj set"
Isn't every Animal Collective show basically a DJ set? They do not play any instruments live, except for the occasional percussion. All they do is press buttons on samplers.
I can't believe people actually expected an Animal Collective performance. Get real.

We handled the press for the show....
With all due respect to AC, we confirmed Geologist and Avey Tare. AT didn't show up for his set.
Yes, that was Michael Stipe.

AC's live sets do have elements that a DJ uses, but performing with a sampler is a lot different then just straight DJing. Live AC combines a DJ like set and a jam band set into a really interesting performance.

Oh, and what about those question marks on Sunday's text in the concert poster below? No, that isn't saving a spot for a Smiths reunion or U2 debut on the Coachella stage, it's the way that Yorke presents himself as a solo star, the marquee at his Orpheum concert had the same punctuational flourish.
