Joanna Newsom @ a fashion week party in 2008 (more by Bao Nguyen)

Joanna Newsom has sold out her March 18th tour stop at NYC's Town Hall. Recently, more exciting details have come out about the new record, a triple album, that'll accompany her upcoming tour. The release, Have One on Me, will be out February 23rd on Drag City (the label that's also putting out the new Baby Dee record), and the track "'81" is streaming now on the Drag City's site (on the right under 'Free Music'). The minimalist text-only cover of the record is posted below...

Is it official? Has the internet's commentary been completely taken over by 16-20 yr old sexually frustrated males? If so, mandatory military service better be on the next ballot.

I think the internet is broken. I refuse to believe real people typed all this.

The only other triple LP/CD I can think of is the Clash/Sandanista. Others?
Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2010 3:56 PM
Sandanista is only 2 cds, this is 3....EPIIIIIIIIIC!!!

Triple LP's:
Half Japanese- Half Gentleman Not Beasts
Several Frank Zappa things- Joe's Garage, etc..
George Harrison- All Things Must Pass
Boy, there are not a lot of em'

Sandinista is 2 CDs but the original vinyl is and was 3 LPs, therefore it is in fact a triple album.

triple Ds, more like

I could barely sit through Ys, I don't know how three CDs is going to work out. I don't think her songwriting/sonic palette is varied enough based on what I've heard so far. Maybe she'll surprise me.

Oneida - Rated O - triple CD & LP
Santana - Lotus (live in Japan) - triple LP - hilarious crazy foldout art

Prince had that triple recently that was only sold at Target or something absurd like that. We can only assume it was awful, as no one listened to it.

so so excited! i have been waiting a while for this one, but i really hope that's not the cover

have to assume that the three cds are quite short, seeing as it also fits on 3 lp's. unless they are either (a) including much more on the CD version or (b) cramming way too much music on each side of the LPs, the CDs are probably each around 40-45 minutes... which is a little odd.
i doubt Drag City would overfill vinyl sides, and it seems unlikely that she has over three hours of new music. my guess is short CDs.
there must be something odd on these discs though... i thought she has said that the new songs are shorter than what was on Ys? Maybe one disc is a crazy story or something...

Some hipster screeches like Lisa Simpson while reading bad Lord of the Rings roleplaying and tunelessly playing a harp? You fucking idiots will fall for anything pitchfork and the like tell you is deck, won't you?

"tunelessly playing a harp"
Listen to "The Sprout & The Bean" and realize how stupid you sound. Shitheel.

After the care that went into the Ys cover design, I'd be surprised if that were the actual cover.

My butt floss is still vibrating with her falsetto. My glottis is opening first at the bottom and then at the top. My butt cricothyroid muscles are stretching the ligaments precisely. Come hither my dear friends and join me in thy abyss..........Hark......there goes me lovith....hark my dear friends hark.........

@5:11
The length of the discs are, respectively: 43:54, 35:37, and 42:31.
So yeah, not too much on each disc as you said.
