New Pornographers

Coming on May 4: the new album from The New Pornographers, entitled Together. Their fifth full-length was produced by the band and Phil Palazzolo, and recorded in Vancouver, Brooklyn, Woodstock, and Catskill, NY. The album is comprised of 9 A.C. Newman songs and 3 Dan Bejar numbers, and features the full eight-person lineup of Carl, Dan, John Collins, Neko Case, Kurt Dahle, Kathryn Calder, Todd Fancey and Blaine Thurier. Additional musicians include Annie Clark (St. Vincent), Zach Condon (Beirut), Will Sheff (Okkervil River), and the Dap-Kings Horns, among other talents.
The artwork for the new album is posted above. There are no sounds from it available yet, but the band has posted pictures from its recording on New Pornographers' site

Lead pornographer A.C. Newman appears at The Bell House's Haiti benefit on Wednesday, January 27th. Also at the even will be The Walkmen (they replaced Cold War Kids who had to drop off), Ted Leo, The Wrens, Sondre Lerche, Eugene Mirman, Rhett Miller and Nicole Atkins. Tickets are still on sale.

that artwork must have been designed by the same person who did the "Middle Cyclone" artwork. The font/lettering is almost exactly the same!

That artwork is hilarious

I've heard what's on the album is infinitely superior to Challengers...

12:34- Not a difficult achievement!

"Challengers" was great. You guys are on crack.

Challengers was excellent, it just takes a lot longer to appreciate than the immediately-accessible previous albums.

Challengers was excellent, it just takes a larger degree of denial to appreciate than the actually good previous albums.

Nah, Challengers had good SONGS (Myriad Harbour, Challengers, My Rights Vs. Yours) but wasn't a consistent ALBUM. But yeah, Together is astoundingly better.

We'll see. Challengers is pretty solid, I thought.

Also, it was Neko who did the lettering, same as Challengers (!). Photo art by these dudes:

Can we have a solid, fun pop album this time like Electric Version or Mass Romantic please? I miss the old New Pornos. They were great to blast in the car and sing along to.

challengers was just ok with a few standout tunes, but as a whole, their weakest album. i hope this one is a 'return to form', as they say.

Glad to see D.R.I. getting there due. This was the first band I ever saw live way back in 1989. I was in the sixth grade and went with my older brother's friend. It was on the THRASH ZONE tour. Ruled.

The first ever music I purchased were two cassettes, D.R.I's DEALING WITH IT and CROSSOVER. Long live thrash metal.

Great pictures.
Excellent post, thank you very much for taking the time to share with those who are starting on the subject. Greetings

Oh, and what about those question marks on Sunday's text in the concert poster below? No, that isn't saving a spot for a Smiths reunion or U2 debut on the Coachella stage, it's the way that Yorke presents himself as a solo star, the marquee at his Orpheum concert had the same punctuational flourish.

Wonderful post and the location is beautiful and elegant in design and information and everything>>> to Favorites
Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
